Valerie's House is the first and only grief support center in SWFL focused solely on helping children grieve.

Valerie's House provides a loving place for grieving families in the community where children learn that loss doesn't have to limit their dreams. Help us support grieving children and their families by contributing at valerieshouse.org under the Donate tab.

Tour our homes, meet our team, and learn about the support available at no cost to families. If you work with children, know someone who needs grief support, or want to get involved, this is a great chance to get to know us.

Look how many butterflies.

Each one was placed by a Gateway High School student in honor of someone they lost. That’s a lot of young people carrying grief into their classrooms every day.

November is Children’s Grief Awareness Month, and we’re so proud of our program team for giving students a chance to share and remember their person. Sometimes that starts with something as small as placing a sticker on a board.

Ashley is here with more self-care bags for our teen girls and families! She puts her own time and money into each one and includes a personal letter sharing her story of losing her mom at 16.

Ashley first came to Valerie’s House for support after that loss. Now she’s our social media intern, helping our children and teens share their stories, too. We’re so thankful for the love she gives our families.

So glad to have our Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce friends over for breakfast at Valerie’s House Charlotte County!

We love getting to know the people behind our local businesses and organizations and showing them what support looks like here. Sometimes they’re looking for ways to help. Sometimes they have their own story of loss to share. We don’t take those conversations, or the love for our families, for granted.

Molly and Alexis have been part of our Valerie’s House team for five years! 💙

Every year, they take a picture together with birthday candles to celebrate. This year, Alexis is away at the University of North Florida working on her master’s, so they kept the tradition going over Zoom.

The best part? They showed up with the exact same candle, even though neither knew what the other had bought! 😂

Molly has helped bring our grief support groups to students in dozens of schools. She also leads groups at our Fort Myers home and gets everyone dancing at the end of group night—a favorite for so many of our kids.

Alexis first came to Valerie’s House as a teen and has given so much to our families ever since. From planning special activities and helping with camp to staying connected with our donors, she’s always finding ways to support our mission. She’s now working toward becoming a licensed mental health counselor so she can do even more for grieving children and families.

Molly and Alexis, Valerie’s House wouldn’t be what it is today without you. Thank you for the love, hope, and joy you bring to our families. We love you both! 🦋
