Estamos de vuelta en suelo estadounidense, pero un pedazo de nuestro corazón se queda en El Seibo. 🇩🇴✈️🇺🇸

Cuando nos embarcamos en este viaje con Global Surgical Volunteers, sabíamos que habría desafíos. Pero de lo que no nos dimos cuenta plenamente era de que estábamos haciendo historia.
Por primera vez en la historia de El Seibo —una de las ciudades más antiguas y emblemáticas de la República Dominicana— se completó un proyecto de voluntariado de esta magnitud.

La historia no solo la escriben los cirujanos; la escribe la gente. Nuestra semana estuvo marcada por la generosidad de los guardias, la diligencia del personal de limpieza, la brillantez de las enfermeras y la amabilidad de los conductores y cocineros que impulsaron nuestra misión. Cada uno de ustedes tocó nuestras vidas.

Un profundo agradecimiento al Senador Santiago Zorrilla y a Doña Clara. Su equipo no solo nos recibió; se convirtieron en nuestra familia. Nos demostraron lo que un verdadero esfuerzo en equipo puede lograr cuando está impulsado por el amor.

Regresamos a casa con el corazón lleno y una visión clara. Esto no fue solo un viaje; fue el inicio de una alianza de por vida. El Seibo, ya estamos planeando nuestro regreso.

They say two heads are better than one, but today we learned that two hearts are even more powerful. ❤️🩺
Day 4 was a marathon of high-complexity surgeries here in El Seibo. But the highlight wasn’t just the successful procedures—it was the experience of working side-by-side with the local surgeons. 🇩🇴
In the operating room, borders disappeared. We weren’t “visitors” and “locals”; we were one team, minds and hearts united for a single purpose: the well-being of the people. Seeing our surgical techniques blend with their local expertise was a beautiful reminder that compassion has a universal language.
As we head into our final full surgical day tomorrow, our excitement is at an all-time high! We are tired, but we are inspired.
Please keep praying, keep thinking of us, and keep following this journey. We are building more than just a medical mission—we are building lasting partnerships.

The prep work is done—the surgeries have begun! 🏥✨

Day 3 in El Seibo finds us right where we love to be: in the heart of the clinic. The schedule is packed, the hallways are buzzing, and the energy is high.
We have a busy road ahead of us with many patients to serve, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

One of the most rewarding parts of today has been integrating with the local hospital personnel. These men and women are the backbone of healthcare in El Seibo, and getting to know them as we prep the ORs has been a privilege.
We are two teams becoming one, fueled by a shared mission to change lives. We can’t wait to see the impact we’ll make together by the end of this week!

We officially set up our clinic and began evaluating patients for the upcoming surgery week. But it’s about so much more than medical charts. It’s about the new friends we’ve made and the deep partnership we’re building with the people of El Seibo. 🇩🇴

Touchdown in El Seibo! 📍🇩🇴
The first day of our mission with Global Surgical Volunteers has been nothing short of magical. Between touring the stunning sites of the East and deep-diving into local traditions, our hearts (and stomachs!) are full.
A massive thank you to Senator Santiago Zorrilla for the incredible welcome and for sharing his passion for this community with us. Over dinner, we aligned our goals and prepared for a week of life-changing work alongside an amazing local team.
The excitement is electric. The mission is clear.

The countdown has begun, and our hearts are full as we finalize preparations for our upcoming surgical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. A message from our Founder

As the final sun sets on 2025, we stand at the threshold of a new chapter, carrying with us the profound weight of gratitude and the light of hope. This year has been more than a passage of time; it has been a testament to what we can achieve when we lead with our hearts and our hands.

A Year of Purpose and Service

The true measure of 2025 lies in the lives transformed. Together, through the unwavering spirit of Global Surgical Volunteers Inc., we witnessed the restoration of health for 126 individuals. To provide life-saving procedures through volunteered surgical missions is to offer the greatest gift of all: a second chance at life.
• To our Patients: Thank you for your courage and for placing your trust in our hands during your most vulnerable moments.
• To our Volunteers and Donors: Your selflessness is the engine of this mission. You have proven that distance and borders are no match for human compassion.

To Those Who Ground Me

None of this would be possible without the foundation of love that sustains me. My deepest gratitude goes to my family, for allowing me share the love and care with their love and support.

Last month, our Global Surgical Volunteers team completed another life-changing mission trip.

One of the most powerful moments came as young Anthony and his mother left the hospital, just one day after his successful procedure. Their smiles remind us why we do this work: every child, every family, every story matters.

💙 Miracles in Motion 💙
Yesterday, our team at Global Surgical Volunteers with the Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation performed four transformative surgeries for children whose families have been holding onto hope for years. These weren’t just procedures — they were answers to prayers, moments of grace, and the beginning of brighter futures.

Each child’s healing ripples through their family, their community, and the world. We’re honored to be part of that journey.
