A Place Called Hope taught attendees at our annual meeting last evening about three of their "ambassador" raptors. An American kestral, a red-shouldered hawk, and a barred owl. Due to various events in their early lives, these birds cannot survive in the wild. It was a fascinating program and so cool to see these awesome creatures up close and learn about their species.

REMINDER: Our EHLT Annual Meeting is coming up THIS SUNDAY. Please join us to hear updates from our President, share your ideas for the future of EHLT, and meet three raptors from A Place Called Hope!

This meeting will be held in our outdoor pavilion on what looks to be a beautiful afternoon!

Please do register so we have an appx headcount for the day.

Note: A Place Called Hope are the guest speaker, replacing Dr. Robert Craig, who we now hope to bring to you later in the year.

East Haddam Land Trust depends on volunteers to help with many tasks including monitoring trails, trail maintenance, filling map boxes, joining a committee, helping with events, or working on a special project.

"Across New England, insects are now responsible for almost a quarter of tree deaths, according to a new study from the University of Vermont. Meanwhile, across the country, invasive insects are expected to kill 1.4 million trees by 2050."

Scientists and advocates worry the closures will delay the agency’s ability to respond to invasive insects in the Northeast and hinder field research in local forests.
