It is much easier to prevent an enemy from posting themselves than it is to dislodge them after they have got possession, and when the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.

Our own Compatriot LtCol Marcus Larkin had the honor to conduct a VIP tour today (March 25th, 2026) at the request of the Friends of Fort Griswold and Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park. The tour was done for Governor Ned Lamont and five British Members of Parliament. Also in attendance was the City of Groton Mayor Jill Rusk and the Groton Town Mayor Juliette Parker. The British Members of Parliament were very interested in the Battle of Groton Heights and the defense of Fort Griswold. I informed them about key parts of the battle to include the massacre and the death of Col Ledyard. During the tour I mentioned Governor Trumbull the “Rebel Governor “ and how Connecticut helped to keep the Continental Army supplied. I mentioned how George Washington appreciated Governor Trumbull’s and Connecticuts efforts. We talked about the Privateers that operated out of New London and Norwich.
Prior to the tour inside of Fort Griswold Governor Lamont asked me if we had anything big coming up and I mentioned the CTSSAR was making copies of the Declaration of Independence for each Connecticut Town so they could be read to their citizens. The Friends of Fort Griswold also mentioned that they will have a number of events planned this year and in the future. One of the staff members of the British Consulate General Boston gave me his card and said if they can support Connecticut America 250 Events in the future to let them know and they will participate if they can. The MP’s were very interested in future America 250 events.

The tour was covered by channel 8 news (ABC) https://youtu.be/NPewjwo-r5A?si=aXnrWjAkVbxwp3Li

The Connecticut Society Sons of the American Revolution, Connecticut Line Color Guard attended the 250th Anniversary of Evacuation Day in Boston on March 17, 2026. After Church services were completed and a musket volley was fired; the CTSSAR, NHSSAR, and MASSAR Compatriots, George Washington, and numerous other patriotic organizations and Americans assembled and marched through the streets of South Boston to Dorchester Heights for the official ceremony. During the ceremony speeches were completed by various dignitaries to include the Governor of Massachusetts and Mayor of Boston, a cannon salute was fired, followed by a massive musket salute in honor of those American patriots under the Command of General George Washington who occupied Dorchester Heights with the cannon seized by Henry Knox. Their efforts caused the British to Evacuate Boston and flee to Canada, New York, and the High Seas. The following CTSSAR, Connecticut Line Color Guard attended and participated in this America 250th Event: Mike Krenesky, Capt, Connecticut Line, Marcus Larkin, LtCol, Connecticut Line, Compatriot Fred Rivard, and Compatriot Robert Carrara.

Respectively,
Marcus Larkin
LtCol, Connecticut Line

Happy St. Patrick's Day from the Connecticut Society SAR with some words by Compatriot David Chr Wold and an interesting article link below written by the Irish author Carla Gade.
"Irish immigrants were heavily involved in the Continental Army and militia units. Many served as officers and aides-de-camp to General George Washington, including Doctor James McHenry and John Fitzgerald, who later held prominent positions in the United States government. Irish-born leaders such as General Richard Montgomery led key assaults, including the attack on Quebec, while General John Sullivan commanded troops during the crossing of the Delaware River. The first Continental Regiment was composed almost entirely of Irish-born officers and men, making it one of the earliest and most effective military units in the Revolution. Irish sailors and naval officers, including John Barry and Jeremiah O’Brien, commanded some of the first American-built warships, contributing to early naval victories."

Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution

Our purpose is to keep alive the memory of men and women who fought or gave service for independence in the American Revolutionary War. We own and maintain three museums: the Nathan Hale Schoolhouses in East Haddam and New London; and Governor Trumbull's War Office in Lebanon.

We have nine Branches (Chapters) throughout the state, and a very active Color Guard/Living History Unit.
