What if the way we've been doing nonprofit work isn't actually working?

On Wednesday, October 28, Vu Le of Nonprofit AF is coming to Detroit to help us reimagine it. Here's what the day will look like:

- An interactive workshop where Vu walks us through the honest shifts our sector needs
- A fireside chat with Vu and Ezekiel Harris
- Lunch and conversation with others ready to think differently about this work

Congratulations to the 2026 KIP:D+ Cultural Heritage Grantees! 🎉

Sixteen Detroit-area nonprofits will share $1.3 million to preserve stories, honor history, and strengthen community belonging. From creating Detroit's first permanent Indigenous cultural healing landscape to documenting Black women's health stories, reviving neighborhood jazz traditions, and recovering the lost Black Power murals of 1968, this work helps us hold on to what matters and build something meaningful together.

Selected by a committee of residents and cultural practitioners who know what the community needs, 81% of projects are led by BIPOC leaders and 75% are led by women.

KIP:D+ is funded by The Kresge Foundation and led in partnership with Co.act and Michigan Community Resources. Since 2015, the program has distributed more than $16 million.

We're thrilled to introduce the organizations joining our first Capacity Building Accelerator cohort! 🎉

This fall, six Detroit nonprofits are coming together for an 8-week experience focused on governance, operations, communications, and sustainability...with space for learning, peer connection, and putting ideas into practice.

The fellows will learn alongside skilled practitioners including Leah Garber (Operational Excellence Consulting LLC), Trish Dewald and MiVida Burrus (Mondo Unlimited and the Data Driven Detroit team, who will guide the cohort with care and expertise.
