Mariners Inn’s Strong! Healthy! Empowered! (S.H.E.) program is proud to present S.H.E. Speaks Now!—a 6-week transformational podcasting course designed to empower girls and young women (ages 16–24) through storytelling, digital media, and self-expression.

Led by the incomparable Ber-Henda Williams, CEO + Founder of Culture Shift(Hers) Unite, this free program equips participants—many from underrepresented communities—with 21st-century skills in podcast creation, communication, and digital literacy. Participants will launch a four-episode podcast and be celebrated at a public showcase.

To make this vision a reality, we’re seeking to raise $20,000 to cover program costs.

Many of the men we serve have fought battles beyond the frontlines—struggling with addiction, homelessness, and trauma. Their journey to healing is a testament to strength, courage, and hope. As we enjoy the long weekend, let’s not forget the importance of community, remembrance, and support. This holiday, we honor all paths to recovery.

Today, on behalf of the entire Mariners Inn family, I want to take a moment to honor the incredible mothers who have shaped our lives with their love, strength, and unwavering sacrifice.

To those of us who carry the memory of a mother who has passed on—may today be a time of reflection and gratitude. We remember your warmth, your prayers, your lessons, and your love that still lives within us.

And to those who are blessed to still have their mothers with them—I urge you, cherish her. Appreciate her while you can. Call her. Hug her. Say thank you. Don’t let a single moment slip by without letting her know what she means to you.

Mothers are the backbone of our families and communities—even within our recovery work at Mariners Inn, we see daily how a mother’s love can spark hope and healing.
