Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9 is proudly spearheading a campaign to place a permanent POW–MIA Chair of Honor inside the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.

This empty chair will stand as a solemn reminder of the American service members who were prisoners of war—and those who remain missing in action. It will ensure that every visitor and elected leader who enters the Capitol remembers our nation’s enduring promise:

You are not forgotten.

This is the location where the POW–MIA Chair will be placed, a lasting tribute in the heart of Michigan’s government.

Today, VVA Detroit Chapter 9 honors the 110th birthday of the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

We recognize the Marine Reservists—past and present—whose service, sacrifice, and commitment have helped defend our nation and strengthen our communities.

🇺🇸 The Celebration Continues! 🇺🇸

The patriotic spirit is still going strong!

After proudly showcasing our award-winning float during the Independence Day celebrations, Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9 is keeping the momentum alive as we continue honoring America's 250th Birthday.

Join us on July 10 at the "Saluting Our Warriors" event at the Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township. Our patriotic float, incredible sound system, and celebration of our nation's veterans will once again be on display as we come together to support those who served and help raise funds for veterans.

This milestone anniversary is about more than celebrating 250 years of America—it's about honoring the men and women whose service has protected our freedom every step of the way.

A recognition that for many Vietnam veterans, the “welcome home” came far too late.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced today that U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Stephen J. Fatur, 19, of Slickville, Pennsylvania, killed during World War II, was accounted for on July 9, 2025.

Fatur's family recently received their full briefing on his identification, therefore, additional details on his identification can be shared.

During World War II, Fatur was assigned to 429th Bombardment Squadron, 2nd Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force. Fatur served as the tailgunner aboard a B-17G “Flying Fortress” bomber. On March 22, 1945, during a bombing mission near the village of Glinica, Poland, Fatur’s aircraft crashed. Seven of the ten crewmembers, including Fatur, were killed. His remains were not accounted for after the war.
