Way to go Malise! 💚🤍
・・・
History. Greatness. Legacy. ⚡️🏆

Malise Brown didn’t just win a State Championship — she etched her name into Michigan history.

2026 MHSAA 200m State Champion.
23.13 — the #2 time in Michigan history.
#6 time in the country this year.
MHSAA Finals Meet Record Holder.

And with that performance, she broke a Cass Tech school record that had been standing since 2012, previously held by Kyra Jefferson.

As if that wasn’t enough, she also earned a Bronze Medal in the 400m, running an incredible 54.99 against some of the best competition in the state. She also helped lead the 4x200 relay team to a State Runner-Up finish as Silver Medalists and helped the 4x100 relay team earn a 4th place finish at the State Championship.

Malise rose to every occasion and delivered one of the greatest performances this state has ever seen.

Cass Tech history was made. Michigan history was made.

So proud of you, Malise. A champion in every sense of the word. 💚🤍

Congratulations Laila! 💚🤍

History made! 🏆

Last year, she finished as the State Runner-Up. This year, she came back with a mission and finished the job.

State Champion.
14.15 in the 100m hurdles.

Laila Hawkins is officially the FIRST 100m hurdler in Cass Tech history to win a State Championship. Forever etched in history.

And she didn’t stop there — Laila also helped lead the 4x200 relay team to a State Runner-Up finish as Silver Medalists and helped the 4x100 relay team earn a 4th place finish at the State Championship.

The work, the discipline, the resilience, the belief, it all paid off. So proud of you Laila. You earned every bit of this moment. 💚🤍⚡️

Serena Williams is officially making her comeback to professional tennis.

Someone locally the “GOAT” has inspired via her legendary tennis career is Maya Solomon, who was no slouch herself. When she was 12 years old, Maya was already dominating Michigan’s tennis scene as the No.1-ranked player in Southeastern Michigan. She prepped at Detroit Cass Tech, dominating as the No.1 singles player for three years, and became the only Black girl to be named First Team All-State in 2018. Her coach at Cass Tech was legendary tennis coach Clarence Wynn. Under his tutelage, she was ranked Top 10 in the Midwest and among the Top 150 players in the nation during her junior career.

Today, Maya holds the title of youngest-ever competitive tennis coordinator for USTA Southeastern Michigan. She’s also a professional coach, tournament director, and passionate mentor, shaping the next generation at the Palmer Park Tennis Academy and beyond.

Maya’s story isn’t just about winning matches. The FAMU alumna has dedicated her life to mentoring and uplifting the next generation of Black tennis players, whether she’s coaching kids in Detroit or as the head coach for the girls’ varsity team at Southfield A&T.
