Owners came into our first In Good Company session running on empty: average stress at 9.5 out of 10, and business decisions driven by survival. 90 minutes of coaching and peer conversation later, stress was down to 4.5. As one participant put it: "Community is out there and I am not alone!"

Exhibiting at an international trade show gets expensive before you've even booked a flight. For many Colorado small businesses, that cost is what keeps new markets on the "someday" list.

The State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) can help with that. The U.S. Small Business Administration funds it, and Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) runs it here. Eligible small businesses can receive up to $15,000 a year toward international business development, including trade shows, overseas business meetings, market research, and adapting marketing materials for a new market.

Exhibiting at a show with the state's Global Business Development team is the best deal. The state pays booth and exhibitor fees, and participating companies get a travel stipend. The 2027 lineup starts with Aero India in February and runs through World Health Expo in Kuala Lumpur in July. If your industry isn't on the list, you can still apply for funding to attend a different international show.
