Mile High Youth Corps supports community-based service and workforce development.

Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is a nonprofit social enterprise powered by a network of young adults ages 18-24 who are justice-focused, committed to creating sustainable communities and pursuing a meaningful path to career success. As a leader in positive youth development, workforce development and community-based service, our Youth Corps completes conservation, construction and healthcare projects across 23 Colorado counties. For over 30 years, our work is making a difference in communities today and building a stronger workforce for tomorrow.

🌱 Say hello to Mile High Youth Corps' newest program, Sustainable Trades Pathways (STP)!

Meeting the growing demand for skilled workers in sustainable trades, STP is training the next generation of HVAC, solar, and weatherization technicians to help reduce carbon emissions in the construction and natural resource industries.

Our pilot cohort consists of five YouthBuild alumni who are taking advantage of this exciting opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials, build their leadership skills, and connect with employers who can provide stable, meaningful careers that also contribute to the fight against climate change.

We're excited to launch this new program and proud of these five alumni as they continue building their skills, exploring new career pathways, and preparing for a more sustainable future.

Mile High Youth Corps is seeking an experienced and collaborative Deputy Director of Programs to join our executive leadership team.

Serving as second in command to the Chief Executive Officer, this leader will provide strategic and operational oversight across MHYC’s workforce development, conservation, and sustainable trades programs. The position will also lead program performance, organizational safety and risk management, staff development, and community and employer partnerships.

Position details:

• Full time and Denver based
• Starting salary between $90,000 and $110,000, depending on experience
• 72 hour schedule over two weeks, including one Friday off every two weeks
• Comprehensive benefits, generous paid time off, professional development, hybrid work options, and a 403(b) retirement plan

Our AmeriCorps Sustainable Trades Pathways (STP) pilot crew at MHYC is officially up and rolling! 🌱⚡ The goal is to expand our work in energy efficiency and sustainable building practices while training the next generation of skilled professionals for Colorado’s growing green workforce.

This week, the crew had the opportunity to get some real hands-on experience alongside GRID Alternatives, helping install solar panels at RASA Elementary School in Green Valley Ranch. ☀️🔧

SFR Summer of Service is in full swing! 🌲🪚

After kicking off in June with two weeks of orientation and technical skills training, our Southern Front Range crews are now hard at work making an impact in communities across Colorado.

But service is about more than the work itself. It's also about learning, exploration, and experiencing the places and history that make Colorado so special.

Recently, our Tavach chainsaw camp crew had the opportunity to make a short stop at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site. After several weeks of working in high temperatures, operating chainsaws, and camping in remote areas, their positive energy and enthusiasm say so much about the resilience and spirit of these hardworking young adults.

We're incredibly proud of our Corpsmembers and the dedication they bring to their service, their crews, and the communities they serve. 💚

As we celebrate Independence Day, we also celebrate the extraordinary landscapes that make Colorado home.

This holiday weekend, we have one simple request:

Please leave fireworks to the professionals. 🧨❌

Our hearts are with the families, friends, and fellow firefighters mourning the three wildland firefighters who recently lost their lives protecting communities and public lands near the Colorado–Utah border.

Every season, Mile High Youth Corps' Land Conservation crews work alongside public land partners to restore trails, improve wildlife habitat, care for forests, and help steward the landscapes that make Colorado so special. We know firsthand how quickly dry conditions can turn one spark into a devastating wildfire.

This holiday weekend, you can help protect the places we all love:

• Leave fireworks to licensed professionals.
• Follow local fire restrictions and public safety guidance.
• Celebrate responsibly to help protect Colorado's forests, wildlife, communities, and the firefighters who work tirelessly to keep them safe.

☀️ A beautiful Colorado Friday morning. A circle of young leaders. A community built on encouragement, growth, and belonging.

Today, our Summer of Service Land Conservation Corpsmembers came together for one of our favorite traditions at Mile High Youth Corps—Community Meeting.

Community Meetings are more than a weekly gathering. They’re a chance for Corpsmembers to share their experiences, celebrate one another’s successes, work through challenges, recognize teammates and staff, and reflect on the incredible work they’re doing together.

These moments remind us that leadership isn’t just built on the trail or at a project site—it’s built through listening, supporting one another, and growing together as a community.

We’re excited to kick off another summer of service with this amazing group and can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish in the months ahead.

✨ From YouthBuild graduate to launching her career…

Please join us in congratulating Jordyn Espinoza, the first YouthBuild graduate to launch her career through our new YouthBuild Externship Program (Y.E.P.)

Jordyn recently graduated at the top of her class, earning her GED, workforce certifications, valuable industry experience, and serving as one of this year's YouthBuild Celebration student keynote speakers.

Today, she's beginning the next chapter of her journey with Mile High Youth Corps.

Through Y.E.P., Jordyn will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit management and supportive services while working alongside our YouthBuild team to learn how we help young people overcome barriers, achieve their goals, and build successful futures.

Created to bridge the gap between education and employment, the YouthBuild Externship Program provides graduates with real-world experience, professional mentorship, and meaningful career exploration. Jordyn is helping pave the way for future YouthBuild graduates who are ready to take the next step toward a rewarding career.
