In October we invite you to try the 5-6 minute shower challenge! We understand that showers/baths can be a form of self-care or for other reasons may require more time, but if you are capable and willing, give it a try! This can be a helpful practice in households with multiple members and a good way to conserve water.

Seeking Board Members! As Urban Servant Corps continues to faithfully develop the structure of the newly imagined program of welcoming justice-impacted women to this community, we are seeking leaders to help guide this work. Specifically, we hope to identify folks who have professional knowledge and expertise in re-entry work, support services, and policy development. If you (or someone you know!) is looking to contribute meaningfully to a non-profit organization that is doing impactful work, please reach out to Executive Director, Krista Kilgus or leave a message below! It's important work -- and we have a lot of fun together, too!

And...they're off! This weekend, the Rocky Mountain Synod "Faster Pastor" team will run in the Flaming Foliage Relay from Idaho Springs to Buena Vista. Each person runs 3 legs of a race -- It's exhausting...It's ridiculous...But it's fun! Team members get to know one another intimately after being in a van together and encouraging each other for about 30 hours. AND, this is all in support of a good cause -- this year, Urban Servant Corps! " While USC always welcomed volunteers of various backgrounds and identities, the volunteer community of 1999 made the decision for USC to become a RIC program, a lasting statement of our welcome to the LGBTQIA+ community.

USC believes that living "simply" is a Holy practice. This can look like: being more intentional about spending, attention to daily habits that keep us healthy, mindfulness practices, our carbon footprint and how we can better steward the earth and how we prioritize our time.

In September, we invite you to reflect on gratitude and keep a running list of the people, places, animals, things, etc. that you are thankful for! Pick a wall at home or work and hang a piece of paper to jot down moments of gratitude. Or use sticky notes, a note on your phone, a dry erase board, whatever is fun and available! It's ok if it's not perfect and it's also ok if you don't do it every day. This can also be a fun and meaningful group activity, so invite some friends and create a gratitude wall!
