On Day 4 of our 16th Annual Meeting, a surprise letter from for Governor of ! Former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, founded the GCF Task Force almost 20 years ago with 9 other governors from the USA, Brazil and Indonesia. As of this week, we are now 54 member jurisdictions strong! We will continue fighting climate change and protecting tropical forests and the people that live in and around them. Thank you Gov. Schwarzenegger for your continued support. We will carry the GCF Task Force into the future as we keep working on these critical issues.

Our 16th Annual Meeting is kicking off with Governor of ! We start with a meeting of our Global Committee for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC). The GCF Task Force is committed to inclusive forest governance and Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC). Today, we will prioritize actionable items that are in line with our Guiding Principles for Collaboration and Partnership Between Subnational Governments and IPLCs.

Nuestra red está conformada por 45 estados y provincias cuyos gobernadores están comprometidos con la reducción de la deforestación, la promoción del desarrollo sostenible y bajo en carbono, la mejora de los medios de vida y la práctica de una gobernanza forestal inclusiva. Our 16th Annual Meeting starts on Monday! Governors and climate leaders from all over the world are gathering in Caquetá, the Green Treasure of Colombia. Our network is made up of 45 states and provinces whose governors are committed to reducing deforestation; promoting sustainable, low-carbon development; enhancing livelihoods; and practicing inclusive forest governance. Thank you to Sanchez and the and team for meeting with us and sharing your knowledge and lessons learned over the past 20 years, from the 2006 act AB32 all the way to California’s current Cap-and-Invest Program (formerly Cap-and-Trade). As Indonesia looks to expand and update its carbon market after Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025 was issued, provincial governments are being encouraged to develop their own climate and carbon programs. The Governors’ Climate and Task Force facilitated this two-day meeting between CARB’s carbon experts and delegates from the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs and the provinces of East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan and NGO partners and . Together, we discussed how Indonesia could learn from California’s experience in order to build a robust climate policy, including a carbon market that generates income while reducing harmful GHG emissions.

Seiring dengan upaya Indonesia untuk memperluas dan memperbarui pasar karbonnya setelah diterbitkannya Peraturan Presiden No. 110/2025, pemerintah provinsi didorong untuk mengembangkan program iklim dan karbon mereka sendiri. GCF Task Force memfasilitasi pertemuan dua hari antara para ahli karbon CARB dan delegasi dari Kementerian Dalam Negeri Indonesia serta provinsi Kalimantan Timur dan Kalimantan Barat, bersama mitra MANKA dan BATARI. Bersama-sama, kami mendiskusikan bagaimana Indonesia dapat belajar dari pengalaman California untuk menyusun kebijakan iklim, termasuk membangun pasar karbon yang dapat menghasilkan pendapatan sambil mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca yang berbahaya.
