Idaho Lt. Governor Scott Bedke discusses two major fires in his state, saying this will be a rough year in terms of firefighting, but being in an arid climate, the state does prepare for years like this.
“We will stress test our systems this year, and we’ll see how we come out and what we can learn from it for the next year,” Bedke said.

Connecticut Lt. Governor Susan Governor Susan Bysiewicz joined state officials to encourage hurricane preparedness ahead of the start of hurricane season, advising several ways to prepare: “Be prepared and have an emergency plan for your family. Have an emergency kit ready at all times with first aid, food, water, battery powered radios, flashlights and other supplies. Also, learn where your evacuation route is and where the designated shelters are in your area. Check with your insurance company about your homeowners insurance. Some policies don’t cover damage from a hurricane.”
