Active member, Major James Robinson, a 105-year-old WWII and Korean War veteran, will represent Post 16 in the 6th Annual Mandeville Veterans Day parade starting at 11 am on Saturday, November 7. He will be riding along with Ben Motion in Dennis Charlesworth's Mustang convertible. Other Post members are requested to accompany them along the one-mile parade route along Lakeshore Drive from the Pontchartrain Yacht Club to Pat's Rest Awhile Restaurant. Participants will interact with and toss throws to the crowd and distribute STAR packages to military personnel and first responders.

Join us to show your pride as a veteran and American Legion Post 16 member while enjoying a terrific event. Please contact Dennis if you plan to participate.

Anyone available to help at the Nightmare on Columbia Street tonight 4-7:30 pm? Setting up Post 16 tent, serving small cups of donated craft b**r and interacting with potential new members. First two volunteers to contact Dennis Charlesworth will receive free tickets worth $45 to sample free drinks and food while helping out.

We are pleased to announce that the Covington American Legion and the City of Covington have agreed to partner in offering Booked in Covington, an Author & Literary Showcase, on Saturday, December 5 from 11 am until 3 pm. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and will be held at Post 16, 2031 Ronald Reagan Highway in Covington. It is a fundraiser for Post 16's Charitable Giving Fund, which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3). Covington's Director of Cultural Arts & Events and author of several books, Sarada Bonnett, is assisting with the planning, helping to promote and will be participating in the event.
Tables will be available for only $20 for authors and vendors. Donations are welcome. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet a variety of talented local and regional authors, browse and purchase books, and obtain author signings. Additional authors, vendors, and sponsors are being contacted. Authors unable to attend but want to participate may do so by using Zoom or arranging to have books and purchase information available.
