Maiden flight for Mark McClellan's Extreme Flight 84" Bushmaster. This unbuilt plane ended up on Mark's bench after being passed down by one of our older members who does not fly much anymore. Mark completed the plane and it is ready to go! Several members have already flown it and agree it is a great flying plane.

Back out today for another attempt with Dave Jones' J-20 Mighty Dragon. Ryan Bowman took the controls this time.

Ryan got it up in the air, and was able to get it trimmed up. The plane was still trying to roll to the right and was a bit unstable. First flight completed and safely back on the ground.

Second flight attempted with a larger, heavier battery. Turned out the plane was too nose heavy with this battery and would not gain altitude. Ryan aborted the flight shortly after takeoff and landed in the grass. Nose gear broken upon landing.

Dave will be taking this plane home and likely hanging from the wall in his barn......

This has been a week for crashes.

This quick video is of a recent acquisition by Dave Jones. He picked up this used/consignment FlyFans J-20 Mighty Dragon twin 70mm EDF a few weeks ago. It needed new Motors/EDF's, ESC's, and a receiver. Dave asked me if I would take a look at it and get it ready to fly. I accepted the assignment.

Spent several hours getting everything installed and tested. We took it out for the maiden flight today. The plane rolled right immediately upon takeoff. Once I realized it was going down I cut the throttle. Damage wasn't too bad, and I made repairs later in the day. Checked all the control surfaces and gyro movement, etc....,everything checked out ok, so hard to explain what happened. We will try again tomorrow!!

*CRASH ALERT*

Robert Jones with a nice T-34 Mentor. He won this plane from a raffle at a fly-in last week. Had a small incident yesterday during the maiden. Made repairs and brought it back out today.

Lost orientation coming around at the end of the field, and things did not end well. On a positive note, he is only out a few bucks for the raffle tickets, and will harvest all the electronics and motor to put in another project plane.

Upon completion of the post-crash analysis, Robert was heard to say- "I f****d up 🤣!!"
