This October, we are continuing to highlight the dedicated leaders across our district who bring positivity, passion, and purpose to our schools! Today, we are excited to spotlight Jonathan Tharpe, Principal at Shuford Elementary! 📚✨

This month, the "Good Vibes" at Shuford Elementary are coming directly from their schoolwide Reading Buddies program! This wonderful initiative brings together upper-grade and lower-grade students to build reading and math fluency through engaging, meaningful learning activities. Beyond strengthening key academic skills, students build confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships across grade levels.

Principal Tharpe’s daily inspiration for his school family?

"Every day is a day to be happy!" 😊❤️

Thank you, Principal Tharpe, for fostering a positive, connected, and joyful learning environment for the students and staff at Shuford Elementary!

Shuford Families,

It is with great honor that I proudly announce that for the 2025–2026 school year, Shuford Elementary EXCEEDED growth expectations for the third consecutive year based on North Carolina's accountability model.
I am incredibly proud of the hard work, determination, and perseverance our students demonstrated throughout the year. This achievement is a direct reflection of their commitment to learning and the dedication of our outstanding staff. Every day, our teachers work tirelessly to love, connect with, and inspire our students, helping each child reach their full potential. Without their passion and commitment, this accomplishment would not have been possible.
In addition to exceeding growth, Shuford Elementary has earned the distinction of being the highest-rated public elementary school in Catawba County based on the North Carolina School Performance Grades and the third highest rated public elementary school in the Northwest region.
Thank you, Shuford families, for your continued partnership and support. Your encouragement, involvement, and belief in our school play a vital role in the success of our students. Together, we will continue building on this momentum as we strive for continuous excellence.
Where Excellence Takes Flight!
