As we creep up on 5 months without our sweet Drew, I wanted to share something I hope I never forget. It’s the way Drew looked at me like I was his person. I have never seen so much love in an expression from a dog. I know Drew loved me, loved us. I miss him incredibly! It gives me comfort when I watch this because I know he knew he was loved and he was safe. And I know he loved us.

We picked Drew’s ashes up on Saturday. I am happy to have my Sweet Drew back home with me. I love Jenkins Funeral Home and the pet services they provide. Jenkins post each pets passing on FB with the opportunity to write an obituary and share pictures. Writing Drew’s story was so therapeutic for me. It helped me remember how far he came and what the power of love can do.
Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for the kindness you all have shared. I have read every comment multiple times and they each have brought me so much comfort 💕

It is with an absolutely broken and heavy heart that I let all Drew’s family and friends lnow that we had to make the difficult decision to let him go. Once we got to the vet, Dr Whitted found a large mass in his belly. This is what has been causing the weight loss and decreased appetite, among other things. Drew was tired. I could see it when he looked at me. The sedation given to him gave him the best rest and ease of breathing I have seen him have in weeks.
I want to thank each and every one of you for all the love you have shared with us and the love you have for our sweet Drew. I never imagined he wouldn’t be coming back home with us today, but we had to decide to give him one final act of love that we could give him. I imagine he is running with Macee, and meeting our other boy, Mack. I hope they can all exchange stories about the good times we shared. Thank you ❤️

Please say a prayer for our sweet Drew. We are going to see the vet today. He has went down quite a bit the last week. He is getting weaker, refusing his food, and even his cheese treats making it hard to get his meds in. Has lost more weight despite our efforts of giving him whatever we can get him to eat. I know his time is nearing, I’m just not ready. But I will never be ready.

Drew, Living his best life! He didn’t care much to play or be in it, but certainly loved licking/eating every bit he could every time he was outside. He NEVER wants to be outside…except for today 😂. Side note…Drew is having some bad days/nights here and there. I know that’s to be expected but he sure could use some prayers!

Hey Everyone! I wanted to take a moment to update Drew’s friends. Drew has had a couple of rough months. He developed a persistent cough that got him an immediate visit with his favorite veterinarian, Dr Whitted ❤️ Drew was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. We were referred to see a cardiologist at CARE in Charlotte where Drew had blood work, an EKG, and an Echocardiogram. He has Right Sided CHF which was caused by the Pulmonary Stenosis he already had. This was expected given his history before he was rescued by Hartman’s Haven, but still a dagger to our hearts. He is so strong. And I have always said it was Love that saved him.
The good news is Drew is doing ok considering all things. He was started on new meds along with the cardiac meds he was already on. We have had to modify his diet, and he has become quite picky with food, which is not like him at all. He usually LOVES all food and is an equal opportunity eater 😂 Now we are doing smaller more frequent meals, and adding in whatever he will eat at the moment. Any suggestions are welcome!
Please pray for our sweet Drew! Pray for his heart to be strong, for no fluid accumulation, and for a good appetite with no more weight loss! Thank you and we love you all!
These pics are from Christmas shopping today and his visit to see Dr Whitted. Drew has a stroller we use for walks we know will be difficult for him.

Sweet Drew 💕 I love to see you smile. Do you guys have any idea how long it took for him to relax enough with us to be able to find that sweet spot that starts that Honda?
