As demand on Columbus' water system grows, it's only fair that the largest users help pay for the infrastructure needed to serve them.

Last week, Annalisa Rocca, Central Ohio Regional Director for the OEC Action Fund, testified at City Council to urge forward important policy changes. Afterward, the City Council passed Ordinance 2560-2026, taking an important step toward protecting residential and small-business ratepayers, creating a new rate class for large-volume users, and ensuring the costs of growth aren't shifted onto everyday customers.

Thank you to Columbus City Council for supporting a smarter, fairer approach to utility planning and infrastructure investment.

The U.S. Senate advanced legislation to reauthorize the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, a critical program that helps protect drinking water, restore wildlife habitat, combat invasive species, and clean up pollution across the region.

For Ohio, that means continued investments in Lake Erie and the communities, economy, and ecosystems that depend on it. Now it's time to keep the momentum going and get this legislation across the finish line.

Ohioans lived through the largest public corruption case in state history. Corrupt utilities and executives rigged the system, and ratepayers got stuck with a bill for more than $683 million (most of which was never refunded).

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has a plan to make it right. Her Ratepayer Justice and Commercial Power Accountability Act (H.R. 9700) makes the corrupt utilities and executives pay ratepayers back, sends the crooks to prison, and reinvests in the communities they harmed.
