The extremist group is now asking CPW to make it “unlawful to possess lead ammunition and a firearm capable of discharging that ammunition while taking or attempting to take wildlife.”

NMFS should collaborate with boaters, anglers, conservation organizations, fishing and marine manufacturers, and a host of other interested stakeholders to develop, test, deploy, and incentivize the use of modern technologies that aid in the detection of right whales and reduce the risk of vessel strikes.

Sportsmen’s Alliance urges NMFS to replace outdated vessel speed rules with modern technology to protect whales while reducing regulatory burdens.

Initiative Petition 28 (IP28), the radical animal-rights measure also known as the “PEACE Act,” has moved to the next threat level in its attempt to effectively ban all hunting, fishing, trapping, standard animal husbandry, and livestock processing by reclassifying them as misdemeanor or felony offenses. Proponents have submitted a total of 126,115 raw signatures to the Oregon Secretary of State. While this exceeds the statutory baseline of 117,173 valid signatures, however the measure has not yet qualified for the November ballot.

A federal court in the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction sought by commercial fishing interests that prohibits the South Atlantic Red Snapper recreational fishing season from taking place. The season was scheduled to begin May 22 in Florida, and would have begun on July 1, in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. “We are disappointed with the court’s decision,” said Michael Jean, Litigation Counsel for Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation. “Agency decisions are supposed to be based on data. These permits would have allowed better data collection and science-based decision making going forward. And recreational anglers are paying the price.”

A federal court has blocked exempted permits for South Atlantic red snapper, canceling the recreational season and halting data collection.

On Thursday, May 28, the Erie County Legislature is scheduled to hold an override vote on Local Law 3-1, Youth Hunting Law. Your help is needed to ensure that the legislators who supported 3-1 continue supporting youth hunting and vote to override County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s veto. The Sportsmen's Alliance created the framework and pushed "Families Afield" throughout the US, allowing youth and adults alike to try hunting under the eye of an experienced mentor. A WIN FOR SPORTSMEN! “SAF had significant concerns about the wide-sweeping impacts of the potential listing of GOA Chinook salmon as a threatened or endangered species under the ESA, which led us to submit extensive comments,” said Torin Miller, Associate Litigation Counsel at SAF. “SAF strongly agrees with NMFS’ conclusion that listing these Chinook as endangered is currently not warranted.”
