Calling all past Project WILD facilitators and newbies! 🌿

The Ohio Division of Wildlife is hosting a new hybrid Facilitator Training this October and we'd love to welcome you back. Whether you were trained last year or more than fifteen years ago, this is your chance to refresh, reconnect with fellow Ohio facilitators, meet new Division of Wildlife staff and start planning your next workshop with our support.

✨ Best part? We're gathering at the brand-new Hocking Hills State Park Lodge & Conference Center which is a beautiful excuse to come back to the program or start your volunteer journey with us!

📅 In-person: Tuesday, October 6 – Wednesday, October 7 (1:30 PM Tues – 1:30 PM Wed)
💻 Plus a 4-hour online refresher ~two weeks beforehand

Prerequisite: Previous Project WILD training. Other environmental education workshops considered case-by-case.

🦃 Citizen Scientists: Please report all wild turkey observations during July and August. This includes males, hens without poults, and hens with poults. With your help we have conducted this survey for over 30 years to track trends in Ohio. Other states conduct similar surveys so biologists can also compare turkey recruitment across state lines.

As the 2025–2026 school year wrapped up, we were proud to certify four new WILD School Sites:
🐝 #218 – Wildwood Environmental Academy (Maumee)
🦋 #219 – Ranger High Tech Academy (North Ridgeville)
🌻 #220 – Quail's Cottage (Alliance)
🌳 #221 – West Side Montessori (Toledo)

From pollinator gardens to invasive species removal and 3+ acres of restored woodland, these schools all share the same spirit: hands-on habitat creation for food, water, shelter, and space, turning everyday school grounds into thriving wildlife habitat and outdoor classrooms. Students at each site got real, muddy-hands experience in stewardship: building pollinator houses, raising monarchs, planting natives, and reconnecting with the land right outside their doors.

Congratulations to the teachers, students, and communities who made these projects happen! 👏
