Central Ohio Pit Savers aka COPS is a 501c3 Non-Profit helping all breeds of dogs in Franklin County/Central Ohio. We are a Shelter Diversion Organization, not a rescue. We are 1oo% funded through donations with all non-paid board members and volunteers. We are not a rescue & do not have the ability to take in dogs. Our mission is to keep dogs with their loving families, thereby decreasing the num

ber of dogs entering the Franklin County Dog Shelter and other area shelters. Our program is dedicated to providing lifesaving assistance for dogs in need regardless of owners’ ability to pay. Some of the assistance programs we provide are:
- Monthly low-cost vaccination Clinics (HOPE) in partnership with Rascal Unit
- Financial assistance for emergency life-saving veterinary care, spay and neuter, behavior resources, etc,
- Training assistance
- Pet retention education
- Humane euthanasia assistance
- Any other pet retention services (when funds are available).

We also have our Shelter Diversion Program in conjunction with the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center (FCDSAC) which provides redemption fee assistance for families to get their dogs back (dogs must be spayed/neutered or owners must agree to get them fixed before we can assist), assistance with annual licensing fees and any other needs to prevent a dog from being surrender to the shelter. We also post and share all Rescue only dogs of FCDSAC.

Remember HOBBS from our Walk for Life? He needs to have surgery on his elbow which is being funded by the amazing Friends of the Shelter! He is in need of a medical foster to assist with his recovery. He was such a good boy at the Walk, is a favorite of the shelter volunteers and is so deserving of the help he is getting from Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center & Friends of the Shelter! If you are interested in helping you can email the shelter at [email protected] for more info.

Please see the original post below for more details on Hobbs and the Howliday Bazaar FOTS is having at the shelter on 11/22!

Boy Boy is currently at COVE awaiting surgery to remove an obstruction & get neutered! He has been suffering for 12 days! Thankfully the abdominal ultrasound he received this morning showed minimal intestinal distension/dilation.
His family unfortunately exhausted all their funds at two emergency vets and were so desperate to help him that they were willing to surrender him to get him help! COVE reached out to us to see if we could assist, the family filled out our Request for Assistance form and agreed to get him neutered during the surgery. We have committed $3,500 in addition to what the family has paid and he should be heading into surgery soon.

Unfortunately donations do not match what we pay out for emergency lifesaving veterinary care. We are lucky to recoup 1/4 of what we spend in these Donation Requests. In order to continue helping more deserving dogs like Boy Boy, we need that to increase. Our events alone are not enough for us to pay these bills. We know times are tough but if everyone that reads this post donates $10 or $20...we should be able to reach our goal. The money donated in these Facebook fundraisers DOES make it to us! We wouldn't do it if it didn't. But, if you would prefer to donate another way, here at the options:
Zelle & PayPal - [email protected]
Venmo -

Thank you for taking the time to read this and your continued support! We will keep you updated on Boy Boy as soon as we receive an update. TOGETHER, WE can make a difference! ❤️

Meet ARIEL! This beautiful lady is a pint size bundle of cuteness! The shelter site says that she is a large breed but she is small/medium. She was a little nervous at first but quickly warmed up and was as sweet as the princess she is named after! She seems to be a little more comfortable with women than men at first but her male handler at our Walk for Life was so great with her and she did come out of her shell after the walk. She is just a little bundle of cuteness!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED at Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center! Great way to give back & get exercise! I know how crazy I would be sitting in a cage all day while people walk by looking at me. Mental stimulation and exercise helps make the dogs stay at the shelter less stressful & helps them get adopted. More details in the Shelters original post below!
