MENDELIAN INHERITANCE FOUNDATION 2ND EDITION 2022

The Donation was held on the 3rd December 2022, which was done at 10am at the Lunsar community. The team take a road trip out of Freetown to the Lunsar community to donate to 120 single mothers and widows. The foundation was able to provide 3 Bails full of clothes for both mothers and children and we had 24 cartoons of healthy food products from the Premium Divine Trading Ltd as they are our first sponsorship. They left on the 2nd December 2022 which was on a Friday afternoon and reached there in evening, the team started to work on the items to be packaged for the 3rd which was the donation day.
On the 3rd which is a Saturday the day for the donation we stared the donation with an opening Prayers done by the Auditor Mr. Mohamed Paye. He made sure it was done in both Christianity and the Islam religions way and took 2 Minutes to get it done. Background statement was done by the President Miss Fatmata Binta Jalloh. She stated the purpose of what the foundation is all about which is based on supporting Single Mothers and Widows and their children.
She further says that this is our 3rd Donation of Mendelian done over for the past 3 years but it is our first that was done in the Province and Lunsar was the District chosen Lastly, she welcomes them and told them that we are happy to see them and we hope they liked their packaged. Another statement was given by the Vice President Miss Isha Kamara, she talks about the sponsorship we have from Divine Premium Trading Limited Ltd and she talks about their product (Miksi, Onga, Yumvita and Kremela) they support Mendelian with and how to use it.
Our Project Coordinator Mr. Fawaz Milton Kanu, talked about the essence of this donation. He said the donation done in Lunsar was the organization's first donation done in the provinces and there were a series of challenges faced in terms of resources in which the foundation is really having a struggle with. For this donation and as in the past all members will have to come together and give a certain amount of money as a contribution towards the project as all members are college students. He also said that after various interviews with some of his friends in recommendation of a district he later found out that Lunsar District was filled with a lot of Single Mothers and Widows.
The essence of this donation is to make the Lunsar women to be aware that they are not left out or forgotten, especially single mothers and Widows. Later he encourages the mothers not to be discouraged in raising up their children because no matter what their children will be a great influence toward society and a great support to them as well. The donation started and we were able to donate to over 120 mothers and they were extremely happy and grateful and seeing some mothers shedding tears and praying that God will bless the organization. They later sang some of their local songs for us and we danced to it.
Closing remarks were given by the Financial Secretary Miss Hawa Kargbo telling them thanks for honoring the invitations given to them, leaving their busy schedule and accepting their package donated to them.

Two years ago we became partner with the Girl Pikin 4 Betteh Foundation which is an initiative of two women - led organization the foundation developed an historical event which is the 50 Most Influential Students Awards in Sierra Leone in recognizing universities students in Sierra Leone for their excellence academic performance during the year for remarkable being consistency of their highest level of achievement and contribution towards their communities which Mendelian was given the opportunity to power the event for both 1st and 2nd editions. It was an honor for the foundation to be part of this historical event which took place on the 12th November 2022 at the city Auditorium.
Mendelian Inheritance Foundation donated 50 awards for both the 1st and 2nd editions for the 50 Most influential students awards event, Even though Mendelian is supporting the single mothers and widows, we also believe "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. ``Thirteen universities and colleges across the country took part in this event and from those universities only 50 students were awarded as they play very important roles towards national development and that their efforts should be recognized.
