Reminder: this Saturday we have TWO opportunities for you to get involved in the watershed. We have a tree planting and pollinator garden maintenance at 1091 King Ave, and also a honeysuckle removal at Rush Run Nature Preserve. See below for details on both!

Here's some info on another invasive, Garlic Mustard. This plant is easy to remove, and can be used in cooking (with some caveats)!

Unfortunately, our watershed has several invasive species. Are there any others you want to learn more about? Let us know in the comments!

Reminder about this Saturday's litter cleanup at Turkey Run. This 1.5-mile urban headwater stream flows through UA and Columbus neighborhoods as well as the OSU golf course, before joining the Olentangy. Unfortunately, it picks up a lot of trash from the shopping center where Kroger is located, which is where we'll be concentrating our efforts.

Yesterday, volunteers from FLOW, Friends of Glen Echo, Greater Columbus Arts Council, the University District, and more came together to temporarily paint over the Glen Echo "bird tunnel" mural that had been defaced by graffiti past the point of saving. We also picked up litter in the park and solicited input from the community on a new concept for the next iteration of the mural (see pics). Feel free to contact the above organizations with your ideas as well.

It's always sad to see a talented artist's hard work get defaced over time, but hopefully a beautiful new mural will grace the tunnel soon.

With the partial closure of sections of SR315, FLOW joined a small strike force of City of Delaware employees and Olentangy Watershed Alliance to take advantage of the access to pick up litter along very narrow and steep areas of the road. We braved the rain and picked up probably over 1,000 lbs of trash, including multiple tires, what seemed like 1/3 of a car in pieces, and an entire treadmill that had been dumped on the side of the road 😕
