✨ Alumni Spotlight ✨

Meet Aiden McDougal, one of North Central Electric Cooperative's 2022 Youth Tour delegates! Earlier this year, Aiden shared an update on his journey as he wrapped up his undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati and prepared to begin his master’s degree in systems engineering.

Since Youth Tour, Aiden has reached some impressive milestones. He interned at NASA Glenn Research Center as a simulation engineer while earning his piloting license, then joined Gulfstream Aerospace through a co-op program in Savannah, Georgia. At the time of his update, he was working in flight dynamics and flight testing, gaining hands-on experience in the aerospace industry. He also served on the executive board of his university's piloting club.

Aiden's story is a great reminder that Youth Tour delegates go on to do great things, turning their passions into careers, and making an impact in their communities and beyond. 🚀✈️

On their way home from Youth Tour 2026, delegates stopped by the Cardinal Power Plant in Brilliant, Ohio, where they got a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and people that produce nearly all the electricity it takes to power the homes and businesses served by Ohio’s 24 electric cooperatives💡 From leadership lessons to new friendships and lifelong memories, Youth Tour 2026 was a HUGE success and is officially in the books. 🙌 Thanks for following along with our delegates!

On Day 6, delegates made connections that monumentally matter 🇺🇸✨ They started the day at Arlington National Cemetery, exploring the grounds alongside delegates from South Dakota. Next, they visited the Natural History and American History Museums, and the National Archives 📜, where they saw some of our nation’s most iconic historical documents, like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. After lunch, they visited some ofD.C.’s iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. They wrapped up the night at the Ga***rd with music, dancing, and lasting memories 💃🕺

On Day 5, delegates took to the Capitol 🏛️✨ They kicked off the day with group photos 📸 before stepping inside the U.S. Capitol for a behind-the-scenes tour. The afternoon brought real-world insight as delegates met with Senator Husted and Senator Moreno, capturing moments they won’t forget. They also connected with legislative staff, Berkley Lane from Rep. Bob Latta’s office, and Dana Quayle (Legislative Correspondent) and Brock West (Legislative Assistant) from Rep. Troy Balderson’s office, plus a special appearance from Jeb the dog 🐶 These conversations gave delegates an up-close-and-personal look at paths leading to careers in public service and government affairs. After a full day on Capitol Hill, delegates headed to the Ga***rd National Hotel for dinner and a youth celebration 🎉, wrapping up the night with views on the Capitol Wheel 🎡, a full-circle ending to a fun-filled day.

📸 A big congratulations to our Thursday Photo Contest winner, Brody Tuttle! 👏

On Day 4, the delegates turned pages into perspective 📚 They started the day by exploring leadership in action with NRECA, gaining a real look at how energy policy decisions impact co-op communities across the country. Then, delegates visited the Library of Congress, 📖 the Supreme Court, ⚖️ and soared to new heights at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. 🚀 Delegates finished the day by visiting the World War II Memorial and Pentagon 9/11 Memorial 🇺🇸, where Major General John M. Dreska shared powerful insight and honored the lives remembered there.

📸 Congratulations to our Wednesday Photo Contest winner: Braylin Romshak who captured a creative moment where delegates made it a mission to spot the president featured on their Ohio trading pin!

Day 3 brought the energy AND the impact!! Our delegates started the morning by stepping into leadership at the NRECA Youth Advocacy session and YLC Election. The group then spent a powerful afternoon at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum before visiting The People’s House, making a White House photo stop 📸, and ending the day cruising along the Potomac River 🚤✨ Overall, the day was a perfect mix of leadership, reflection, and moments that will stay with them long after the ship has sailed.

Congratulations to our Tuesday photo contest winner, Bryce Hall, and a huge shoutout to him for capturing so many awesome moments throughout the trip so far! 👏📸
