The 2026 Playhouse Project season is a wrap, and we couldn’t have spent the last Blitz of the year with a better crew!

We’ve counted the fine people of among our biggest supporters for the Playhouse Project. They understand just how transformative it is for kids to have a place to explore their imaginations and exercise their independence. Habitat-MidOhio has partnered with Wells Fargo to build 27 playhouses over the past 3 years, and the impact is proven right there on those smiling faces.

Today is World Habitat Day. Each year, this day reminds us to reflect on one simple thing: everyone deserves a decent place to live. This year, the theme is "Adequate Housing for All."

The need for housing extends far beyond Central Ohio. Around the world, there are an estimated 2.8 billion people living with some form of inadequate housing. Conflict, political instability, climate change, and economic hardship cause people to leave the places they know in search of safety, stability, and opportunity. For some, that journey brings them to Central Ohio.

Our region is becoming more global, and many of the families we serve at Habitat-MidOhio are New Americans. They are our neighbors and coworkers. They are raising families and building futures here. They work in industries that help our region thrive.

This work has always been about people coming together--the affordable housing crisis won't be solved alone. It'll take cross-sector partnerships. It will take volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves. And it will take neighbors looking out for neighbors.

All of us have a role, and we will build a stronger community for all of us.

Thank you to every volunteer who helped us make affiliate history at Worthington Christian Church. For the first time in our nearly 40 years, Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio completed two full wall builds in the same day. Two Central Ohio families are now another step closer to homeownership.

Volunteers built through a downpour, a drizzle, and ended their day of work in sunshine. We're always proud to see such clear commitment from the folks who generously share their time, energy, and effort with us--especially as we mark another milestone.

We were lucky to welcome the folks at Werth PR to the Devon Triangle multifamily housing project as a day sponsor. They lent their volunteer talents and work ethic to housing units that will connect 14 families to the opportunity and hope that comes with homeownership. That’s volunteerism that sends a message.

Werth PR’s generosity enables Habitat MidOhio to build more, do more, and be more. We’re grateful for their service to their community, and we’re grateful that they spent a day with Habitat MidOhio.

Halfway through Saturday's wall build in Newark, the rain, thunder, and lightning had come. Pastor Todd Tracy ushered everyone into the auditorium of Second Presbyterian Church to wait out the thunderstorm.

As the crowd of volunteers mingled and sipped warm drinks, the thunder and lightning stopped, but the downpour had not. Pastor Tracy addressed the crowd, "it looks like we've got a window to work. You're not required to go back out yet since it's still raining pretty hard, but it's safe to do so."

All 97 volunteers marched out into the rain to finish what they started.

We're grateful to see such commitment from our volunteers, including members of the Kiger family who were there to help build the walls for their future home. Habitat-MidOhio has built homes in Newark since 2012, and this was our first wall build to actually take place in Newark--and Newark showed up. Thank you all, and thank you Second Presbyterian Church for giving us a place to help build a home.

Last week, the Devon Triangle neighborhood welcomed a new Habitat homeowner.

On a notably hot Thursday morning, we proudly broke ground on the latest Workforce Development House in partnership with City of Columbus - City Hall and Columbus City Schools Fort Hayes Career Center.

The ceremony marked the second year of collaboration between Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio, the City of Columbus Department of Building and Zoning Services, and Fort Hayes Career Center. This project is a hands-on opportunity for the students of Fort Hayes to build valuable, real-world trade skills by working alongside the Habitat construction team.

A single tree line separates the new Workforce Development House and our in-progress multifamily housing in Devon Triangle—Habitat invests in communities.

Thank you to members of Columbus City Council for joining us and thank you to all the partners that will make building this home possible.

Last week, we celebrated the Brailer family taking the next step toward homeownership in Newark. It's a joy to see a whole family come together for an important step in their journey: the groundbreaking!

Behind those smiling volunteers from , you’re looking at the next step in the Devon Triangle story. Walls are going up on Bassett Ave, and Habitat MidOhio is one step closer to completing our first multifamily housing project.

A partner like Erie Insurance makes breakthroughs like these possible. They’ve generously volunteered their time, positive attitudes, and support to help get this project closer to the finish line, and we’re grateful that they’re a part of this story.
