Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is proud to celebrate Leslie Garcia, Bilingual Team Lead, on her graduation from the Empowering Latinas Leadership Academy (ELLA)!
As we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating Leslie’s leadership journey and the community, confidence, and skills she gained through ELLA.
“ELLA gave me the support, community, and skills to remind myself that I am a leader. I’ve gained so much of that confidence back, and I’ve learned to recognize the value of my voice and my skills instead of letting those thoughts of imposter syndrome speak louder than I do.”
Through ELLA, Leslie found a community of talented Latinas, strengthened her leadership skills, and was reminded of the importance of mentorship and having people who support you along the way.
Looking ahead, Leslie plans to bring what she learned into her role as a Team Lead by supporting and encouraging her team, communicating with confidence, and creating a supportive environment for those around her.
Her experience also reinforced something we see every day through our work at BBBSCO: mentorship can make a meaningful difference at every stage of life. When people are supported, encouraged, and reminded of their potential, they can grow into confident leaders.
