At the end of July, 48 people from the Maize Campus and the community met to learn from each other and from Sustainable Columbus about climate resilience during extreme heat. This event was part of our work as the pilot Climate Resilience Hub for the City of Columbus.

A group of 26 people from across Ohio spent the week of July 13-18 helping homeowners in Milwaukee, WI, recover from last summer's flood event. In a week with both record hot temperatures and off-the-charts air quality alerts, the team persevered to lay flooring, prime and paint drywall, apply sealant, and install a toilet and sink. And we all practiced our trip motto: Flexibility is key!

So far we’ve given out more than 2,500 pounds of produce that has been shared with over 1,000 people through the Farm Stand this summer! Come see us on Sundays from 11am-1pm for some delicious, fresh-off-the-farm vegetables!

Energy was the theme this year at Kids’ Climate Camp, where we learned about the many kinds of energy all around us, then used some of our energy for digging up potatoes, playing games, and having fun!

We had a great week hosting our first youth mission team from Fields UMC in Cleveland! They spent time weeding and harvesting, completed a host of projects that have been waiting, and sorted and reorganized the clothing closet. The campus has never looked better!

On the first Sunday of most months, leaders and volunteers from the Urban Farm Church gather to eat together, plan together, and dream together for the future of the Farm. All are welcome to attend the 1pm meal, held out at the Shelter House during the summer months. Our next Farm Meal will be Sunday, July 5, and due to summer vacation schedules, the August meal will be held on July 26.
