A day well spent paddling through Congaree National Park with the CLT team! Moving through quiet waterways, taking in the towering floodplain forest, and sharing time appreciating the kind of landscapes that define this region and inspire our mission. Days like this are a reminder of how important it is to care for these ecosystems β€” so they continue to thrive for wildlife, for people, and for future generations.

Midlands Gives Day is here, and thanks to Former Board Member Ethan Nord, and the Ethan W. Nord Donor Advised Fund of CCCF, every dollar you give to CLT is matched – up to $5,000.

Our region is growing fast – and so is the need to increase the pace of conservation. The farms, forests, and natural areas at the heart of central South Carolina need protecting now, and this match means your gift does twice the work to get us there.

The math is simple. The opportunity is real. The lands we're working to protect won't wait.

πŸ‘‰ Give today at our Midlands Gives page: https://www.midlandsgives.org/organization/congareelandtrust

πŸ” Share this with someone who loves the Midlands – every gift helps us unlock the full match.

Thank you for showing up for the lands we love. Your generosity is what makes it possible to protect the lands that make central South Carolina special for generations to come!

ONE WEEK AWAY | Midlands Gives – May 5th

South Carolina is growing fast. The land we love needs protecting now more than ever – and this year, your support goes twice as far.

A generous CLT Board Alumni has committed a $5,000 matching gift for Midlands Gives. Every dollar you donate is matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000. That means your gift does double the work to protect the farms, forests, and natural areas at the heart of central South Carolina.

Early giving is open now.

πŸ‘‰ Visit our CLT Midlands Gives page to give: https://www.midlandsgives.org/organization/congareelandtrust/
πŸ” Share this with someone who loves the Midlands and the lands we are working to protect.

Together, we can move faster, protect more, and keep central South Carolina connected to the land that defines us for generations to come.

⏰ Reminder β€” Join us this weekend!

On Saturday from 10 AM–12 PM at Camp Discovery in Blythewood, SC, we will be hosting a free, family-friendly guided nature walk as part of the Columbia City Nature Challenge!

Columbia is back for its second City Nature Challenge β€” an international campaign where cities worldwide document local biodiversity. Last year, nearly 103,000 people across 669 cities logged over 3.3 million nature observations. Now it's our turn to add to that count!

Come learn how to use the iNaturalist app to identify and record local wildlife, plus an optional children's activity. It's free, it's fun, and it's rain or shine.

Space is limited β€” registration is required! Sign up via the link below.

April is National Native Plant Month, and here in the Midlands, we couldn't be more grateful for the plants that have called this land home long before we did.

From trees like the longleaf pine to wildflowers like the swamp rose mallow, these native species feed our wildlife, filter our water, and keep our land healthy for generations to come. Caring for this land – and the native species that depend on it – is at the heart of our mission, and this month, we're celebrating the roots that hold it all together!

Can you identify any of these native plants? Drop your answers in the comments below!

Looking for a fun volunteer activity this weekend?

It is time for another exciting edition of Wannamaker Work Day!
- Sunday, 4/12 @ 9 AM -
At our Wannamaker Nature Preserve, we are constantly working to make every one of the 529 acres a better place for wildlife. It is one of the few places in this hemisphere that is truly managed for untamed creatures. Virtually all of the work we do is meant to return the property to its natural state and put it on a path to self-sustainability.
Join us and contribute to our noble cause! We will gather at the Pavilion, discuss the day's goals, then set out to do the work of conservation. No experience required!
**Editor's Note: Our main entrance, the Pavilion Gate, is marked with our address (LOOK FOR 1003 Old Number Six Hwy, St. Matthews) and will have a bird sign at the entrance. This is where you should turn in. The gate will be open; drive on through and you'll see the Pavilion. We are surrounded by private property - if a gate is closed, do not proceed through it!!
***Extra note: We recently submitted a correction to Google Maps for our address. The pin for the address now accurately shows up at our main entrance. Still, look for the address number (1003 on a blue sign) and bird sign to be sure you are in the right place. When in doubt, DO NOT TRESPASS.
