Today we celebrate World Nature Conservation Day!

We are fortunate to work in a region of such beauty and abundant natural resources — rivers, wetlands, forests, and farmland that shape everything about life in the Midlands.

Being able to experience this land is a gift. Being trusted to help protect it is one we don't take lightly. It's why this work matters, today and every day.

Grateful for the land, and for everyone who helps us keep it this way. Happy .

CLT staff were proud to join yesterday's South Carolina 7 Expedition stop at Swan Lake Iris Gardens and the Prisma Health Shot Pouch Greenway in Sumter, SC!

We walked the gardens alongside participants, taking in the beautiful wetland scenery and the reminder of how accessible green spaces support healthier, more connected communities.

CLT Executive Director Stuart White also joined the roundtable discussion on outdoor recreation, conservation, and public health, focusing on how collaboration across these areas can support conservation efforts — exactly the kind of cross-sector conversation that helps to drive our work protecting land across the Midlands.

Many thanks to SC7 for bringing us together. Get outside and explore what makes South Carolina worth protecting!

Join South Carolina 7 for a morning celebrating outdoor recreation, conservation, and community connections in the heart of Sumter this Thursday, July 16th.

Local leaders, conservation and outdoor recreation organizations, including CLT staff, and members of the public will gather at the Heath Pavilion at Swan Lake Iris Gardens at 8 AM, and begin hiking at 9 AM.

This four-mile walk hosted by SC7 will showcase the beauty of Swan Lake Iris Gardens and the Prisma Health Shot Pouch Greenway, winding around the lake and along the greenway to the new Broad Street Trailhead and Park before returning to the pavilion. At CLT, we're proud to support events that connect our community to the outdoors and highlight the importance of accessible green spaces, trails, recreation, and conservation throughout our region. June is Pollinator Month, and as it draws to a close, we're taking a moment to celebrate the bees, butterflies, and other small creatures doing big work across the Midlands. The land we protect isn't just for people — it's habitat for the pollinators that keep our ecosystems (and our food supply) humming. Here's to the unsung workers of the natural world!

Midlands Gives Day is here, and thanks to Former Board Member Ethan Nord, and the Ethan W. Nord Donor Advised Fund of CCCF, every dollar you give to CLT is matched – up to $5,000.

Our region is growing fast – and so is the need to increase the pace of conservation. The farms, forests, and natural areas at the heart of central South Carolina need protecting now, and this match means your gift does twice the work to get us there.

The math is simple. The opportunity is real. The lands we're working to protect won't wait.
