Dr. Ford was invited to the City of Charleston Council meeting tonight to receive another Father365 Pledge Month Proclamation.

Thanks to Mindy Sturm in Mayor Cogswell’s office for meeting with us in September to discuss municipal resources for our dads and for setting up this proclamation with the Mayor.

Thanks to Clerk to Council Jennifer Cook for organizing it all for the council meeting.

The Father365 Pledge Month Proclamation was developed in conjunction with our creation of the Pledge itself (www.father365.com/pledge), which we introduced at the National Fatherhood Summit in Dallas in early August. Tonight’s proclamation is an extension of the national pledge movement.

And special thanks to our board member Jay Ratterree for standing with me for the proclamation.

Today, we’re proud to continue building momentum for fatherhood across South Carolina.

It’s an honor to be at the City of Gaffney Council meeting tonight as they recognize the importance of engaged fathers and the role they play in strengthening our families and communities.

The city is recognizing October as Father365 Pledge Month.

Every proclamation is more than a moment of recognition. It’s another community standing behind fathers, supporting families, and helping us continue the work of forging strong fathers and strong families across our state.

Thank you to Mayor Dr. Lyman Dawkins III and the City of Gaffney for joining us in recognizing and elevating fatherhood.

With us tonight were Center president Karriem E. and Dr. Lawrence Ford, D.Min., along with Donna Waites, president of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. From our Upstate regional affiliate, Upstate Fatherhood Coalition, were Phillip Hagood, Garrett Matthews and Willis Suber.
