Learning to swim can look different for every person—and that’s exactly why adapted aquatics matters!

During this session, our staff worked with this participant on her flutter kick while she practiced in her noodle boat. We love finding ways to make swim skills fun while still helping each participant work toward their individual goals! 😊

Rec2Connect’s adapted aquatics sessions are customized to each participant’s abilities, comfort level, and goals. Whether someone is learning foundational swim skills or working toward greater independence, our team meets them where they are.

In many local communities, families have limited options for swimming programs that can truly accommodate individuals with disabilities. Rec2Connect fills that gap by creating opportunities where participants can experience the joy of being in the water—with support that is built around them!💙

The City of Seven Hills is hosting a Health and Wellness Day on Saturday, January 30th, 2027 at the Seven Hills Rec Center! The goal of their event is to provide educational resources covering healthy eating, therapy dogs, emotional support activities and much more! This event is completely free to attend! It's always an incredible day when we get to extend a HUGE thank you to a grant partner, and this particular grant partner has gone above and beyond in supporting our adapted programs!

We'd like to thank the REI Cooperative Action Fund for granting Rec2Connect $20,000 to support our rock climbing and outdoor programs! 🎉 Through the REI Cooperative Action Fund, Rec2Connect has been able to:

★ Purchase bike equipment such as helmets, bike pumps, and more for our Bike Club
★ Purchase outdoor climbing equipment and support our PCIA outdoor climbing training
★ Provide staff to support the Cleveland Metroparks' spring camping event, allowing for more sensory-friendly and inclusive support
★ Provide our Teen Social Club with its first-ever community outing to rock climb at Cleveland Rocks

Thank you, REI Cooperative Action Fund, for supporting nonprofits doing the essential work of making the outdoors more accessible and inclusive for everyone! 💙

Rec2Connect is collaborating with the Cleveland Dragon Boat Association for a Dragon Boat Excursion on Friday, Sept. 11th from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Merwin's Wharf! 🐉 Attendees will receive an introduction to dragon boat paddling! Each attendee must come with one caregiver or guardian. The cost to attend is $20 per person, and the registration deadline is Sept. 9th! To enroll, email [email protected] today! 📧
