Drink Local Drink Tap works in the Unites States of America and Uganda to improve water equity through education, engagement, and access to clean water. Drink Local Drink Tap was founded in 2010 when the United Nations declared water and sanitation basic human rights. Drink Local Drink Tap is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and hosts multiple community events annually and ongoing educationa

l programming locally and nationally. Globally, in Uganda, Drink Local Drink Tap is a registered international NGO building safe, long-lasting water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in rural areas. Drink Local Drink Tap partners with communities, local government, and funding partners to implement and monitor projects.

There is so much hard work behind every WASH project we open.

Building climate-resilient, sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions takes more than construction. It takes months of planning, problem-solving, collaboration, and hands-on work from DLDT-Uganda, local leaders, school staff, parents, and the youth who will care for these systems for years to come.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate the opening of new projects at Nakaye Primary School, St. Kitzo Kirungu Primary School, Matgono C/U Primary School, and Kabulasoke Primary School in rural Gomba, Uganda. Each WASH project is more than just water. We ensure the water is clean, reliable, and becomes part of daily routines at schools so that children and teachers can stay healthy and have an opportunity to thrive.

Opening a project is just the beginning of a new future; a future full of dignity and possibility for everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our 21+ Happy Hour Cleanup at Edgewater Beach. Together we picked up over 63 pounds of trash and enjoyed cocktails (and the BEST swag) from our friends at Tito's Handmade Vodka 😎

Plastic doesn't disappear- it ends up somewhere.

At our beach cleanups, the most common items we find are made of plastic: bottles, caps, straws, food wrappers, cigar tips, and countless tiny fragments that have broken down over time. Every piece we remove is one less item that can make its way into Lake Erie, harm wildlife, or break down into microplastics.

Choosing to reduce single-use plastics isn't just about what you throw away; it's about preventing that plastic from ever reaching our beaches in the first place. Drink Local Drink Tap has been committed to cleaning Edgewater since 2010, and we're picking up our 20,000th pound of trash at Edgewater Beach this Saturday.
