Re:Source Cleveland

Re:Source Cleveland Re:Source Cleveland serves international newcomers as they build lives in Greater Cleveland. Each year 1,300 to 1,900 refugees settle in Ohio.

Since 2007, Cuyahoga County has welcomed over 850 refugees from countries including Burma, Bhutan, Somalia, Ukraine, Russia and Iraq. Refugees legally enter the U.S. seeking freedom, peace and opportunity for themselves and their families. After resettlement, they start new lives with limited resources transitioning from their past and the lives they once knew. Through targeted research and extens

ive involvement within Northeast Ohio’s resettled refugee community, The Refugee Response recognizes newcomers both need and seek assistance with English language, basic cultural orientation and employment training in order to become self-sufficient, contributing members of their new communities.

We’re celebrating the culmination of a monumental year for our Post Secondary Bridges program. Students in our inaugural First Year Success Seminar course at Tri-C recently completed a semester focused on preparing for their futures, led by Re:Source Cleveland's Director of Education Amy Moniot.

Throughout the spring, students learned how to navigate campus resources, map out their academic plans, and connect with mentors in their intended career fields. By the end of the course, students said they felt more motivated, professional, and connected. We're excited to build on this success and expand the seminar to multiple campuses in the fall!

Thanks to our friends at , 22 of our young athletes were able to complete sports physicals at the same time as they attended after school programming at our office one recent afternoon. This arrangement boosts access, removes barriers, and just makes sense! We repeat the process a few times each year, ensuring that each young person who wants to participate in sports has what they need to do so. Thank you to each of these NFP staff members for their flexibility and kindness with our group.
