Our Vice President of Recruiting, , has an interesting college journey! Check it out below.

Undergraduate college/university: The Ohio State University + Weight State University

Degree: Bachelor of Science, Nursing

Why did you select the school(s) that you attended?

The first two years of my college career began at The Ohio State University. It was an awesome experience and I enjoyed my time there! However, attending a large university had some drawbacks when the time came for me to apply to their BSN program. Due to the large number of applicants vs the number of slots available, admission into the program was very competitive. After not being accepted into the program my sophomore year, I decided to transfer to Wright State University the following fall. I chose Wright State University because it was still in Ohio, the cost of tuition was lower, and their BSN program accepted students twice a year. During my first year at Wright State I was accepted into the BSN program and graduated in 2008 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My journey to become a nurse was not a straight path! However, along the way I learned to not be discouraged, and that sometimes we have to take a different route in order to accomplish our goals.

College Awareness Month is still in full effect! Check out our President’s college journey!

Undergraduate college/university: The Ohio State University
Graduate college/university: Georgia State University

Question: Why did you select the school(s) that you attended?

Answer: I’ve always had fond memories and joy thinking about The Ohio State University from my mom and sister, both alumni. My mom always told me some of her greatest memories were from her early college years. I used to take the Greyhound bus to Columbus, Ohio, to visit my older sister when she lived on campus. Although I was considering other schools during my senior year of high school, I received an academic scholarship from OSU, and I knew my personal and collegiate goals would align. It's been one of the best decisions of my life.

When I decided to return to school for my master's degree, I only considered graduate programs that offered flexibility for working professionals. I had finally started gaining traction in marketing, so I wanted to get real-life and classroom experience. GSU's program offered a perfect balance.

Undergraduate college/university: Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech)
Graduate college/university: Temple University

Question: Why did you select the school(s) that you attended?

Answer: Ga Tech was by far the best value for an elite-level public and in-state education. The other huge benefit is the Institute's #1 ranked Industrial Engineering program in the country. As for grad school, Temple made the most sense when considering a program that offered both an MBA and Sports Business curriculum while requiring students to be professionals in the workforce for a minimum of 5 years. So, it was the right program at the right time and stage of my life & professional career while offering flexibility conducive to my work schedule.

Former professional basketball player Charles Barkley is taking action against a recent Supreme Court ruling that put an end to race-conscious admission programs. Barkley will leave his alma mater, Auburn University, five million in his will to be used for scholarships for Black students. The Hall of Famer's decision arrives after the Supreme Court on Thursday struck down affirmative action programs in college admissions. We applaud Barkley in his efforts to support diversity in higher education.
