East 66th Street and Euclid Avenue is a hinge point in Cleveland — connecting Downtown to University Circle while also connecting to the historic neighborhoods of Hough and central to the north and south. Last night we celebrated the naming of the Warren E. Anderson MidTown Collaboration Center. Warren Anderson has helped put community at the center of this development — and his gift will be the driver of everything that comes next in this beautiful and community focused space.

The Cleveland Foundation today announced the appointment of Arielle Gurman as Chief Growth Officer, a role leading the foundation’s philanthropic growth and innovation strategy and expanding donor and partner relationships.

Gurman’s new role reflects the foundation’s ongoing evolution as it responds to Cleveland’s changing needs, grows new forms of philanthropic capital and partnerships and stewards its resources for long-term impact. As Chief Growth Officer, she will deepen the foundation’s connections with donors and community partners, positioning one of Cleveland’s most storied civic institutions to meet new opportunities and challenges.

We were honored to welcome this year's Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards winners and the talented AWBA Jury to the Cleveland Foundation this past weekend.

The Barbara Haas Rawson Community Stair in our headquarters is home to an art installation of all the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards winners. During the closing reception of our Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards weekend, we presented each author with their glass book cover which will be added to the installation.

Last year, in Edith Anisfield-Wolf's spirit, the Cleveland Foundation tripled the cash prize awarded to each new book that wins in each category, increasing it from $10,000 to $30,000 going forward. Edith knew—and we know—that the prize itself matters. The recognition matters, and so do the resources. She wanted us to invest in the authors to do more of the work only they can do.

Edith Anisfield Wolf believed the way to confront the hardest questions of race, class, and injustice was to invest directly in the changemakers who were unafraid to tell the world what needs to be heard. She created the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards to provide a monetary award with no strings attached to give authors the recognition and space to continue to write, to take risks, and to keep going.

She represents the very reason the Cleveland Foundation was founded in the first place: To take on the most important, complex, and consequential issues of our time that no one can or will take on. Her generosity, bold vision, humility and fearlessness is astonishing and nearly a century later, The Cleveland Foundation has the honor of carrying her vision and generosity forward.

Tonight we are honored to celebrate the 2026 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards winners as they are added to the rich canon of award-winning literature.
