On October 15th, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, families and individuals all around the world will participate in a global Wave of Light by lighting a candle to honor their angel babies. Join us in-person or on Zoom for a Wave of Light candle lighting ceremony to honor your loved little ones.

Let’s talk about it. 💜

Black families experience infant mortality at 3x the rate of white families. And here in Northeast Ohio, infant mortality rates remain significantly higher than the national average.

These disparities remind us that families need more than access to care. They need consistent, culturally responsive, community-based support before, during, and after pregnancy—support that recognizes the whole person and the many factors that shape maternal and infant health.

Our Senior Director of Training and Community Impact, Krista Lumpkins-Howard, recently joined Sound of Ideas on Ideastream Public Media to share insight on these disparities and how Birthing Beautiful Communities is working to change the story through holistic, whole-person care.

Because improving birth outcomes takes more than a medical appointment. It takes a community. 💜
