Black History Month is coming to an end — the conversation should not.

In addition to current political challenges, recent Candid findings* revealed that our sector still has a long way to go in ensuring equal access to leadership roles, funding, and other resources for Black leaders and Black-led organizations.

Now more than ever, we must do our part to support each other. Please know that BVU is always here to help your organization build capacity, grow strategically, and make a bigger difference for those you serve. Let us know how we can help at https://bvuvolunteers.org/contact-us/

Connection. Education. Resilience.

This is what yesterday’s seminar on navigating political changes provided our crowd of 80+ nonprofit leaders — and what the work ahead will require of each of us.

We discussed state budgets, executive orders, and much more. But the most crucial learning from the session?

Advocacy works.

Raising your voice as a nonprofit can be nerve-wracking, but there are protected ways for all of us to contribute.

We encourage you to find yours here: https://afj.org/bolder-advocacy/

Thank you again for making the morning so powerful. We are in this together!

Did you know it took over 15 years of collective action to make Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a national holiday?*

Today, we honor not only Dr. King, but also the volunteers, community members, and organizations who fought for his legacy, and those continuing that work today.

Change takes time, but every hour you give to a meaningful cause moves us forward. For your "day on" and beyond, check out BVU's free online Volunteer Center for hundreds of opportunities to serve your community: https://volunteerconnect.bvuvolunteers.org/

It takes all of us! 📢⚡

National Pro Bono Week is coming to a close! BVU is proud to match experienced professionals with opportunities to help nonprofits make a bigger difference through our Skill CONNECT programs.

As a skills-based volunteer AND nonprofit board president, participant Rachel Kribbs has experienced the benefits of skills-based volunteering from both sides:

"Donating my skills has not only helped me give back, but has given me a stronger professional network, connection to my community, and awareness of the issues facing the nonprofit sector. On the nonprofit side, I cannot begin to express how much this program has helped us grow. Access to the Skill CONNECT network is like having a customized advisory council."
