This month, we celebrated completion of phase 1 of The Norma Herr Center, marking an exciting milestone in the renovation and expansion of the emergency transitional shelter. Made possible through the partnership with Eden, Cuyahoga County, and many dedicated community partners, the new space is designed to provide guests with a safe, welcoming, and dignified place to call home while they work toward stability. The expanded center will offer increased capacity, more private and semi-private sleeping spaces, enhanced accessibility, expanded dining and community spaces, and a private courtyard for guests to gather and connect.

The Norma Herr Center represents more than a new building, it represents a renewed commitment to meeting people with dignity, compassion, and hope. As we celebrated this milestone, we also honored the guests who showed extraordinary patience, flexibility, and resilience throughout the construction process.

Did You Know 💡 Our Early Learning Center serves children ages 3-5 and their families in a two-generational early education model.

This innovative model will assess and identify the social-emotional needs of the children, work with families to create case plans, achieve goals, prevent re-occurrence of homelessness, and empower families to achieve and maintain the highest level of self-sufficiency.

This month, we celebrated a special milestone at our Early Learning Center as our preschool students were prepared and promoted to take their next big step into kindergarten! This celebration was a wonderful opportunity to recognize all the growth, learning, and joyful moments our students experienced throughout their time in the Early Learning Center. From building friendships and discovering new interests to developing important skills for the classroom, each graduate has grown in their own unique and meaningful way.

The workshop will feature sessions on healing and emotional safety, financial literacy, job preparation, voter education, goal planning, self-care, and more.

The event will take place Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at YWCA Greater Cleveland’s 4019 Prospect Ave. location. Women and girls ages 16 and older who are aging out of foster care, refugees or immigrants, or experiencing homelessness are encouraged to attend.
