Established to encourage new ideas and a free exchange of thought, the City Club is one of the oldest continuous free speech forums in the country, renowned for its tradition of debate and discussion. The City Club firmly believes in the free expression of all ideas and the benefits of an open exchange. All speakers must answer unfiltered, unrehearsed questions directly from the audience. Since ou

r founding, the City Club has welcomed members of all races and religions, and our strength today is reflected in the rich texture of our membership. City Club members are drawn from all walks of life and ways of thinking. Yet all believe in the rewards that free speech can bring to the intellect and to the community. The strength of our membership is its diversity and commitment to free speech. Our vision is of strong, informed individuals and communities that prize freedom of speech and civil, civic dialogue.

For 175 years, the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland and the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine have served Northeast Ohio through education and healthcare, founding and stewarding institutions that have helped shape Greater Cleveland—Beaumont and Urban Community Schools, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, and Joseph & Mary’s Home, among others—and transforming countless lives along the way.

On Thu. 7/16, join us for a conversation with leaders from both orders as we explore the enduring legacy of women religious in Greater Cleveland—their extraordinary lives, their service and sacrifice, and their vision for the future of the communities they continue to inspire.

Tickets open to all at https://www.cityclub.org/forums/2026/07/16/175-years-of-service-the-ursuline-sisters-the-sisters-of-charity-of-st-augustine-and-a-legacy-of-a-city-transformed
