Call for Artist Submissions!

Zygote Press / zygotepress.com invites applications for an upcoming group exhibition that will form part of the cultural programming for Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison, a yearlong celebration organized by Ohio Humanities and Literary Cleveland. We aim to exhibit the work of artists across Ohio who are engaging with the enduring motifs found in Morrison’s literary corpus.

These include but are not necessarily limited to themes such as history, memory, race, racism, exclusion, trauma, violence, flight or fugitivity, motherhood, home, lineage, beauty, and love.

Submissions will be reviewed by a jury comprised of Ohio-based professionals drawn from the fields of the visual and literary arts. Jurors will select five artists for the group exhibition based on artistic merit and connections to Morrison’s writing. Applicants will be notified by the end of July.

The deadline to apply is July 7, so don’t wait!

To apply, visit Zygote Press’s website to access the application portal and submit your materials! Please direct any inquiries to [email protected].

Experience the power of storytelling through dance. ✨

Rooted in the classical language of Bharatanatyam, Crucible of Honor brings the timeless epic of the Ramayana to life, portraying Rama as the embodiment of integrity, justice, and heroism.

Produced by award-winning choreographer and 2022 Martha Joseph Prize recipient Sujatha Srinivasan, this stunning performance features distinguished dancers accompanied by a live Indian musical ensemble.

Presented in conjunction with the The Cleveland Museum of Art exhibition Epic of the Northwest Himalayas: Pahari Paintings from the "Shangri" Ramayana, this production celebrates one of the world's most enduring stories.
