The Hollies are taking their final bow.

After 63 years, the British group’s two remaining members — lead guitarist Tony Hicks and drummer Bobby Elliott — announced they will retire from touring.

Formed in 1962, The Hollies (Official) were on the forefront of the British Invasion. With a list of hits including “Bus Stop,” “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress,” and “The Air That I Breathe,” the 2010 Inductees became one of the most successful British bands during the 1960s and 1970s.

Music Makes Us guest Shirley Manson of Garbage and host Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill Records were featured on Olivia Rodrigo's lineup this past weekend.

The two groundbreaking musicians both had a hand in shaping our Revolutionary Women in Music exhibit and in shaping the next generation to be the change they want to see in the world.

In 2024, Shirley's powerful words helped us kick off the featured exhibit, which is still going strong today.

Dolly Parton proving she could rock at the Rock Hall.

When Dolly Parton was first nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, she respectfully declined. The country legend explained to NPR, "I felt like I was taking away from someone that maybe deserved it certainly more than me since I never considered myself a rock artist.”

After some convincing, she had a change of heart. At her Induction ceremony, she proved she belonged just as much as any rock star with an unforgettable performance. Here's how she opened it.

60 years ago today, River Deep – Mountain High was released.

The album showcased 2x Inductee Tina Turner’s extraordinary vocal power, with performances that captured the intensity and emotion that would make her one of rock & roll’s most enduring performers. Its title track became one of the most celebrated recordings of her career and a defining recording of the 1960s.

Ike & Tina Turner were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

Released on August 17, 1980, in the U.S., Iron Maiden captured a hungry East London band at the beginning of their journey.

Featuring the anthems “Running Free” and “Phantom of the Opera,” the album introduced the sound and attitude that would make Iron Maiden one of metal’s biggest bands.

Aretha Franklin brought new life to “I Say a Little Prayer.”

The Queen of Soul and 1987 Inductee took a song fellow Inductee Dionne Warwick made famous and made it completely her own in 1968. Just like Warwick's original, Franklin's version became a Top 10 hit.
