Join us on June 28th for our first Moving Through Workshop! A space for artists who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, or infertility.

Led by Megan L. Gargano and The Movement Project team, this gathering offers a supportive space to explore grief through movement, writing, and reflection. Together, we’ll reconnect with ourselves, honor our experiences, and discover how creative expression can support healing and growth.

This workshop is not about creating finished work, but about finding connection, community, and space to move through loss. 🤍

Happy Pride from TMP! 🌈

Throughout June, we’ll be highlighting q***r artists from across the Cleveland community and sharing ways you can support their work.

Our next spotlight is Morgan Ashley, someone we’re so grateful to have as part of the NE Ohio arts community. Through their work across Akron, Morgan is helping bring dance and theater into more spaces and connect with wider audiences. Morgan performs at Starcatcher Theatricals ‘s open mic night, Sips and Scripts, sharing their artistry with the community. They also work with ArtSparks, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing dance into Akron Public Schools and expanding access to arts education for local students. Through both performance and education, Morgan continues to make dance more accessible and strengthen the arts community in meaningful ways

The Movement Project proudly presents our summer guest artist, Victoria Lynn Awkward ! Victoria Lynn Awkward is a multidisciplinary creator, educator, producer, and the Director of VLA DANCE.

We’re excited to welcome Victoria July 1-3 as she creates a new work on the company and leads classes open to the public!

Victoria will be teaching our company classes on Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-11:00 AM, as well as a FREE community class on Thursday from 6:30-8:00 PM.

Her class celebrates expansion of a dynamic mind and body through contemporary dance rooted in rhythm, spirals, and weight shifting. Don’t miss this opportunity to train, create, and connect with an incredible artist. We hope to see you there!

Today’s the day!

Our Detroit performance of CodeMoves is tonight. If you’re in the area, come out to the Andy Arts Center at 6pm! This video highlights one of the pieces, 9 by Miryam Gabrielle. Miryam is a Detroit based artist who is excited to share the work with her community.

Discover what audiences in Akron experienced last week, and be a part of greater discussion on the possibilities for artists integrating technology into their practices.

The Movement Project was selected as a 2024 Knight New Work grantee, an initiative of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation that supports artists and organizations in Akron, Miami, and Detroit who are using technology to innovate how art is created, shared, and experienced.

Happy Pride from TMP! 🌈

Throughout June, we’ll be highlighting q***r artists from across the Cleveland community and sharing ways you can support their work.

Our first spotlight is Angelina DiFranco, a vibrant and active artist in the Northeast Ohio dance community. She is currently involved in several exciting projects, including a performance this weekend with The Dancing Wheels Company. Her work, We hold us, has been presented at festivals across the country, with hopes of continuing its tour to new audiences. As the 2026 LINK Resident, Angelina received support and resources through NCCAkron and TMP to develop a new duet with DeMarco Sleeper. The piece will be performed this summer as part of TMP’s Summerworks showcase.
