The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning ignites student learning, creativity, and success through the arts. OUR STORY
Since 1953, Center for Arts-Inspired Learning (formerly Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio) has served nearly 7 million students in 18 counties through arts education, and has reached even more through our advocacy efforts, professional development, and community programs.

We effectively create innovative learning experiences–closing learning gaps, teaching creative thinking and problem solving, and helping students succeed in school, in their first jobs, and beyond. We work with 85 professional teaching artists, experts in their fields, to tie to curricular connections and socio-emotional themes, helping children in Grades PreK-12 learn through and with the arts. Arts education is what we do, and it’s the one place where you can do it all—dance, theater, music, digital arts, visual arts, on-location performances, workshops, residencies, and professional development. Plus, our experienced Education Staff can help customize all of our arts-programming.

ArtWorks is a paid arts apprenticeship for Northeast Ohio youth in grades 10–12. Work alongside professional artists, connect with other young creatives, and build skills you can use for your future endeavors.

✨ Build your artistic skills
💼 Develop workforce skills like building resumes, professional communication & teamwork
🤝 Create with other local youth artists
🎪 Showcase and sell your work at an apprentice-led Arts Fest & Marketplace
💰 Get paid while you learn

Yesterday, the CAL team spent the morning volunteering at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation! 🪴💚 As part of our ongoing commitment to serving our community, our staff will be spending time alongside our partner organizations to lend a hand and give back.

We helped clean up the Gardens and get them ready for the 80th Annual One World Day. Thank you to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens for welcoming us, sharing the stories and histories behind the Gardens, and giving us the opportunity to be part of the work. We’re grateful for the experience and the chance to support such a wonderful community organization! 💙

Be sure to check out One World Day this Sunday, August 30! 🎉 With nearly 50 diverse ethnic groups represented through music, food, dance, storytelling, and more, it’s a wonderful celebration of culture and community.

🚨UPDATE: Wednesday's Woodland percussion class will be happening!🚨

Due to a change in the situation at Cleveland Public Library, our Inspiration Through Music percussion class at the Woodland Branch will take place as scheduled this Wednesday, August 26 at 4 PM.

We previously shared that both this class and our Mt. Pleasant class were cancelled. We apologize for the change and any confusion this may cause, and we appreciate your flexibility as the situation continues to develop.

Due to the Cleveland Public Library work stoppage, the following library-based classes are cancelled until further notice:

The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning (CAL) is seeking engaged, passionate professionals and community leaders to join our Board of Directors.

Board members bring their expertise, relationships, and leadership to help expand access to transformative arts and learning experiences for PreK-12th grade youth across Northeast Ohio.

We’re especially interested in individuals with experience in business, finance, education, law, HR, marketing, fundraising, technology, arts and culture, and community engagement. No previous nonprofit board experience is required.

At our recent Annual Meeting, we reflected on the 2025–26 program year, celebrated the people who make our work possible, and looked ahead to what’s next. 💙

Our CEO, Emma Parker, and COO, Christine Madden, shared highlights from the year, while new CAL Roster Teaching Artists introduced themselves and the creative programming they’re bringing to young people through CAL.

We also celebrated a leadership transition as Greg Shaw, Ph.D. passed the board chair baton to Tamara Fletcher, MBA, PhD, and recognized champions of our mission with awards:
