A memorial service was held yesterday for Howard Alumna and founding and charter member of huaccle, Reverend Leatrice Joy Willams Emeruwa Ed. D. During which a resolution, signed by President Wayne A. I. Frederick, was presented to her family.

Rev. Dr. Emeruwa graduated June 6, 1947 from the former College of Liberal Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She also attended the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences from 1947-1949.

Upon her return to Cleveland, Rev. Dr. Emeruwa kept a close relationship with Howard University and founded the Howard University Alumni Club of Cleveland. In 2005, she received a Volunteer Alumni Award from the Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA)

As an ordained minister and Professor of English, she was known as a "preacher poet".
