May this sacred celebration bring peace, hope, and blessings to every family, while honoring the rich faith, traditions, and heritage that have been preserved across generations.

Today, Iraqis across the world celebrate the homeland that lives far beyond its borders.
From Dukok to Basra, AlAnbar to Diyali
And across generations of Iraqis in America and throughout the diaspora, Iraq remains part of who we are.

We carry Iraq in our language, our traditions, our music and food, in the stories passed down by our families, and in the pride with which we introduce our heritage to the next generation.

For Iraqi Americans and Iraqis throughout the diaspora, today is also a reminder that distance does not erase belonging. Wherever life has taken us, we continue to preserve our heritage, celebrate the richness and diversity of our people, and build bridges between Iraq and the communities we now call home.

COMMUNITY STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE SEPTEMBER 19 TRAGEDY ON NORTH OLMSTED

On September 19, a devastating tragedy in North Olmsted changed the lives of six siblings in our community. The eldest, just 17, has stepped forward to care for his five younger siblings. No child should have to carry that weight alone, and we are coming together to surround these children with protection, stability, and care.

Our hearts remain with the family affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. As we mourn the lives lost, our priority is to respect the family's privacy, protect the well-being of the children, and support those working to provide them with the care they need.

بهالأوقات الصعبة، تبين قوة جاليتنا بتكاتف أهلها ومحبتهم ووقفتهم الإنسانية ويا بعض.

قلوبنا ويا العائلة اللي أصابتها هالفاجعة الأليمة، ونسأل الله أن يرحم الفقيدين ويلهم أهلهم وأحبتهم الصبر والسلوان. اليوم، أهم شي نكدر نقدمه هو احترام خصوصية العائلة، والحفاظ على سلامة الأطفال وراحتهم النفسية، والوقوف وياهم بكل محبة وإنسانية.

Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating tragedy and loss of a family in our community.

A mother and her son tragically lost their lives in an act of domestic violence, leaving behind six children who are now facing unimaginable grief, uncertainty, and a future no child should ever have to face. 💔

A has been created to help provide these children with the care, stability, and support they urgently need during this heartbreaking time. If you are able to donate, please know that every contribution, no matter how small or big, can make a difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing the fundraiser can help it reach people who may be able to help.

We are also calling on our Kurdish-American and broader Iraqi-American community to come together for these children. If you are a relative, or if you know a trusted and loving family who may be legally able to provide temporary foster care, kinship care, or another safe placement for the siblings, please contact us.

Our hope is that these children can remain safe, supported, and whenever possible together, surrounded by their family, culture, language, and community while their long-term care is determined.

Six children lost their mother and brother in an instant. They need protection. They need stability. They need love. And right now, they need a village.🙏🏻
