Today, FPC Hope Center recognizes Women’s Equality Day, a day to honor the progress made toward women’s equality and to recognize the work that still lies ahead.

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which recognized women’s constitutional right to vote. It is also a reminder that equality is about more than a moment in history, it is about ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to build a safe, healthy, independent, and meaningful future.

At FPC Hope Center, we see every day why that opportunity matters. The young adults we serve as they transition from foster and kinship care are navigating adulthood, often while building their lives without the same safety nets and support systems many of us take for granted. For young women, empowerment can mean having access to education and employment, learning financial independence, building healthy relationships, understanding their rights, finding their voice, and knowing that their goals and dreams matter.

Equality means having the opportunity to choose your own direction, and the support to move forward.

This Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and potential of every young woman we serve. We believe her past does not define her future, and that every young adult deserves the tools, support, and opportunities to create a life they are proud of.

At FPC Hope Center, we believe that learning real life skills today helps build a stronger tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Truist and Marlo Long for partnering with us to present Truist Life, Money, and Choices, an engaging financial literacy workshop that challenged our young adults to make real-world financial decisions.

Participants were assigned a career, monthly income, and life scenario, then navigated 12 interactive stations where they created a monthly budget covering essential expenses like housing, transportation, food, healthcare, clothing, personal care, and more. Along the way, they experienced firsthand the importance of budgeting, prioritizing needs, and making thoughtful financial choices.

This hands-on simulation gave participants a realistic look at the financial decisions they’ll face as they build independent lives. It was an eye-opening experience that reinforced valuable lessons about planning, responsibility, and preparing for the future.

Thank you, Truist, for investing your time and expertise in empowering the young adults we serve. Partnerships like yours help equip them with the knowledge and confidence they need for life’s road ahead.

Today, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) who organized a donation drive to support the young adults served by FPC Hope Center.

Because of their kindness, our program received several new suitcases and backpacks that will make a meaningful difference for young adults transitioning from foster care and kinship care into independent living.

For many of the young adults we serve, moving from a foster home, group home, or shelter into their first apartment is an exciting milestone. Unfortunately, too many have had to carry everything they own in trash bags. A suitcase or backpack may seem like a simple item, but it represents something much greater - dignity, hope, and the message that they are valued.

These donations will help our young adults begin this new chapter with confidence and the practical tools they need for Life's Road Ahead.

Thank you to all of the CWA members who made this donation possible. Your compassion and generosity are helping our adults move forward with hope, one step at a time.

Celebrating 250 Years of America

Today, we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s independence and the enduring ideals of freedom, opportunity, and hope.

At FPC Hope Center, these values inspire our work every day as we walk alongside young adults transitioning from foster care and kinship care. Independence isn’t just something we celebrate once a year, it’s something we help build every day through mentoring, life skills, education, and a caring community of support.

As we honor our country’s past, we’re also investing in its future by empowering young people to overcome challenges, pursue their goals, and confidently navigate Life’s Road Ahead.

We wish everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day. May we all continue working together to build stronger communities where every young adult has the opportunity to thrive.

💙 July is National Make a Difference to Children Month 💙

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, dream, and build a bright future. But for many young adults transitioning from foster care and kinship care, that journey doesn’t end at age 18, it simply enters a new chapter.

At FPC Hope Center, we believe that making a difference means walking alongside young adults as they navigate life’s road ahead. Through caring mentors, trauma-informed support, life skills education, educational and career guidance, and meaningful community connections, we help young adults build the confidence and independence they need to thrive.

Sometimes making a difference looks like offering encouragement before a job interview. Sometimes it’s helping a young person enroll in college, learn to budget, or simply reminding them they are not alone.

Real change happens when a community comes together to invest in the potential of its young people.

This month, we invite you to consider how you can make a difference:

From reimagining our website to beautifully designing our Community Needs Assessment and creating thoughtful pieces like this card featuring the quote, “I know that hope is the hardest love we carry.” - Jane Hirshfield, they have helped us share the voices, hopes, and needs of young adults transitioning from foster care and kinship care.

We’re grateful for partners who don’t just provide a service, they become part of the mission.

I am truly honored and excited to have been selected as a member of the 2026 Building Bridges Leadership Institute.

This opportunity brings together an incredible group of leaders who are committed to strengthening our community, building meaningful connections, and creating positive change throughout our region. I look forward to learning alongside these talented professionals, sharing experiences, and growing as a leader.

Most importantly, I am proud to represent FPC Hope Center and the young adults we serve every day. The work we do is only possible because of the support of our community partners, supporters, and dedicated volunteers. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring the mission of FPC Hope Center to this leadership experience and to continue building relationships that help create brighter futures for those we serve.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. On this Memorial Day, we reflect with gratitude on their sacrifice and the freedoms we enjoy because of their courage.

At FPC Hope Center, we also recognize the strength of military families, veterans, and all those carrying the weight of loss today. May we lead with compassion, unity, and remembrance, not only today, but every day.
