Southern District 4-H Horse Camp is a weeklong residential summer camp for
boys and girls who are interested in learning about horses. Emphasis is placed
on educating participants in horsemanship, equitation, and showmanship
techniques in a wide variety of disciplines.

We're thrilled to have FLATLINE BBQ - Zero Pulse. Maximum Flavor - on site for the 3rd Annual Saddle Up For St. Jude!

They'll be serving Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese, Loaded Baked Potatoes, Pitt Beans & Coleslaw. Build your plate your way!

Online preregistration is required - you must preregister online to attend.

Stalls available - $15 day pass / $20 overnight. Contact Rachel Moran for stalling at +1 (304) 661-0970

Our 3rd Annual Saddle Up for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a go!

🌿 Trails will be open at 10am 🌿

A small $25 donation is requested per rider, all proceeds will go directly to St. Jude - so you will HAVE to register online so they get their donations!

Stalls and lodging will be available just contact Camp Virgil Tate for those! They will be separate from your trail registration but wait, there’s more!!
Trails will be open the next day as well! 👏🏼

🌟 Congratulations to all of our 2026 Horse Camp award recipients! 🌟

A huge congratulations to our Spirits of Camp, H’s of Camp, Chefs, and Sags from the Seneca, Cherokee, Mingo, and Delaware tribes! Your leadership, enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication helped make this week an incredible success.

Whether you were encouraging others, serving behind the scenes, showing great sportsmanship, or leading by example, each of you helped create the special camp spirit that makes Horse Camp so memorable.

We are so proud of all you accomplished this week and thankful for the impact you made on your tribes and fellow campers. Keep shining, keep leading, and keep carrying the Horse Camp spirit with you wherever you go!

We want to extend a sincere thank you and HOW HOW to Chris McCallister for his generous donation of fresh cedar shavings for our stalls this week.

Chris delivered two full loads right when we needed them. His timely support helped us keep stalls clean, dry, and comfortable for our horses during a busy week at camp.

Supporters like Chris make it possible for us to provide the best care. We’re grateful for his commitment to supporting our program and our animals

Recipient of the 2026 Judy McCoy Memorial Scholarship 🎉

We’re proud to award Elizabeth Gusler a full scholarship to camp next summer in memory of our beloved counselor, Judy McCoy.

This scholarship goes to a young camper who embodies the traits Judy lived every day at camp🍀

Throughout the week, Elizabeth was:
• Helpful – always the first to lend a hand
• Encouraging – lifting up other campers
• Good listener – present and thoughtful with others
• Respectful – to staff, peers, and camp traditions
• Attentive – dialed in during activities and quiet moments
• Detail-oriented – noticed the little things that matter
• Creative – brought new ideas and joy to camp

Judy had a way of making every camper feel seen. We’re grateful we can keep her spirit alive by giving a camper who shares that same heart the chance to return next year.
