Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Ashley Payne, Program Officer with the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington WV, to the Kanawha Valley Fellowship Home!

During her visit, Ashley asked a question that gave us an opportunity to reflect on what we most want others to understand about our work:

“If I were to pass on one message—one takeaway from my time here with you—what would it be?”

Our answer is simple: Recovery doesn’t end when treatment ends.

For many of the men who come through our doors, getting sober is only the beginning. Building a life in recovery takes time. It takes safe and stable housing, structure, accountability, meaningful connection, employment, support—and a community that continues to believe in what is possible.

That is why organizations like the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington are so important to this work. Their commitment to addressing the barriers to long-term recovery strengthens organizations like ours and, ultimately, the people and communities we serve.

We are incredibly grateful to Ashley for taking the time to visit, listen, ask questions and learn more about KVFH firsthand. We look forward to working with her and are deeply thankful for the Pallottine Foundation’s continued investment in recovery throughout West Virginia.

Elaina Atkinson surprises KVFH PRSS Michael Drennen with a framed copy of Rick Steelhammer’s recent article. Elaina’s grandfather, Lew Smith, was KVFH Director 1974-99 and our main house was dedicated to his service. We are expanding again to meet the needs for Recovery. Rebuilding men’s lives since 1967!

Today we celebrate Jeremiah Meadows as he graduates from Phase I and Phase II of the Kanawha Valley Fellowship Home program! 🎉

Jeremiah has worked hard, embraced the principles of recovery, and reached an important milestone as he begins the next chapter of independent living.

While we're excited to see him spread his wings, we're even more grateful that this isn't goodbye. Jeremiah has already shared that he plans to stop by from time to time for our weekly house meetings and encourage some of the newer residents—a reflection of the gratitude he has developed during his journey.

Congratulations, Jeremiah! We are proud of all you've accomplished, believe in your future, and wish you continued happiness, growth, freedom and lasting recovery. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.

Once a part of the Fellowship Home family, always a part of the Fellowship Home family. 💙

Huge News! Big Thanks!

Our June Board Meeting was followed by a wonderful afternoon of fellowship at our monthly Beans & Cornbread luncheon, highlighted by a special check presentation celebrating an incredible investment in the future of the Kanawha Valley Fellowship Home.

We were honored to receive $10,000 in support of our mission and expansion project, including a $7,500 grant from Westfield Insurance and a $2,500 contribution from Mountain State Insurance Agency, Inc.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ross Johnson, President of Mountain State Insurance Agency, for his continued advocacy and support of KVFH. Ross’s belief in our mission, along with the generosity of both Mountain State Insurance Agency and Westfield Insurance, is helping us continue providing safe, structured, recovery housing for men seeking a new way of life.
