Today we celebrate a remarkable milestone—35 years together for Dick and Nancy Daugherty.

Many people know Dick as the face of KVFH, but those who know our organization well understand that Nancy has been an essential part of our story, too. For years, she has worked tirelessly behind the scenes—helping manage grants, supporting our annual fundraiser, attending countless events, and lending her time, talents, and heart to the mission of recovery.

Together, Dick and Nancy have demonstrated what commitment, partnership, and shared purpose can accomplish. Their dedication to one another and to the men we serve has helped shape KVFH into the organization it is today.

They are a powerful example of what recovery makes possible—not just sobriety, but meaningful relationships, service to others, and a life built on integrity, faith, and perseverance.

Please join us in congratulating Dick and Nancy on 35 years of marriage and thanking them for the countless ways they have strengthened KVFH, our residents, and our community.

Happy Anniversary, Dick and Nancy! ā¤ļø

At KVFH, we know that strong recovery homes are built on strong standards.

We are proud to be a certified recovery residence through the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences - WVARR, West Virginia’s affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. WVARR’s commitment to quality, accountability, ethics, and best practices helps ensure that recovery residences across our state provide safe, supportive environments where individuals can thrive in long-term recovery.

We are especially grateful for the hands-on guidance, encouragement, and oversight provided by Executive Director, Emily Birckhead and the WVARR team. Their dedication to strengthening recovery housing throughout West Virginia has elevated the standard of care and created a lasting positive impact for recovery communities across our state.

As one of our valued Partners in Recovery, WVARR plays an important role in helping organizations like KVFH continue to grow and serve more men seeking a new way of life. As we move forward with our expansion project and increase our capacity from 35 to 47 residents, we remain committed to upholding the high standards championed by WVARR and NARR.

Together, we are building stronger recovery communities, restoring lives, and creating hope for generations to come.

At KVFH, recovery is made possible through the support of strong community partners who believe in second chances and lasting change.

We are grateful to recognize the West Virginia First Foundation as one of our valued Partners in Recovery. Their commitment to preventing substance use disorder and supporting long-term recovery by strengthening resources across West Virginia helps organizations like KVFH continue serving men seeking a new way of life.

Two special shoutouts: To Dr. Matt Christiansen, our Region 5 Board Representative, whose commitment to driving systematic change helps push WV policy and keep us all forward marching. And special thanks to Rachel Thaxton, who supports all our efforts and ensures we're on target by keeping us informed and all questions answered, always!

As we move forward with our expansion project, increasing our capacity from 35 to 47 residents, partnerships like WVFF’s are helping us create more opportunities for men to find stable housing, meaningful employment, financial independence, and long-term recovery.

TOGETHER, we are building hope, restoring lives, and strengthening communities across West Virginia.

Please remember Janie, Amy & Jacy and the entire Bishoff clan-let’s lift them all up in prayer this week as they mourn the passing of Rich. I’ve had visions of Rich meeting with old friends Irv ā€œbad backā€ Arnold, Sam Spade, Vic Burkhammer, Dick VandeLinde, Louis Southworth, my dad George and many others. It’s a vision of joy at a reunion we will all participate in one day…
