🧤 A LITTLE GENEROSITY GOES A LONG WAY! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to for their incredibly generous glove donation! 🙌 After sorting through everything, we estimate this donation is worth at least $1,000!🤯

Thanks to this amazing act of kindness, we were able to replace our entire staff and volunteer glove supply with brand-new, high-quality gloves! 🧤✨

And the generosity doesn’t stop there! Any extra gloves we’re unable to use will be donated to our city’s homeless shelter, helping even more members of our community. ❤️

We’re incredibly grateful to Wells Lamont LLC for supporting our staff, volunteers, and community. Thank you for helping us make a difference! 🫶

We’re excited to share that our Executive Director, Alora Kraus, will be speaking!

We hope to see you there! 💚

🍎 Join us for the Linn County Food Systems Symposium!

How does local food get from farms and producers to our tables? What role do schools, food hubs, community organizations and consumers play in strengthening our local food system?

The Linn County Food Systems Council will bring producers, buyers, community partners and curious community members together on October 30 at the ISU Extension and Outreach Office for a day of conversation, connection and ideas about the future of local food in and around Linn County.

The free event will explore:
• Local food processing and distribution
• Food hubs and wholesale markets
• School nutrition programs
• Local food access and community well-being

Attendees will hear from speakers from across Iowa, participate in engaging discussions and have opportunities to network with others who are passionate about local food.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Learn more about the event and register on our website: https://www.linncountyiowa.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/4559

Come learn, connect, and be part of the conversation about local food in Linn County!

💙 A HUGE THANK YOU to our Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust Volunteers! 💙

We want to give a huge shout-out to the amazing volunteers from CRBT who came out to support our urban site at St. Andrews! They rolled up their sleeves and jumped right in to help with the tear-out work.

Your time, hard work, and willingness to serve make such a difference in our community. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for being part of the work to make a positive impact!

Thank you, CRBT, for showing up, lending a hand, and making a difference! We couldn’t do this without amazing volunteers like you! 🙌🔨💙

🌱 This volunteer season has been an absolute success! We want to give a BIG thank-you to all of the volunteers who have given their time and effort to help us grow, glean, distribute fresh food, and connect with our community.

With our Monday Shop Nights officially wrapped up for the season, we thought it was the perfect time to share the impact your time and dedication have brought to our organization! While our regular volunteer season may be winding down, we still have a couple of volunteer groups joining us to help winterize the farms before the colder months arrive. 🍂

Throughout the 2026 volunteer season, we’ve seen nearly 200 volunteers w**d our fields, glean our crops, and distribute fresh food to our community. Together, you’ve contributed approximately 510 hours of hard work in the sweltering heat and rainy days, all with smiles on your faces. And most importantly, we’ve built connections!

Our Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Maddie, shared:

"I'm so honored to have made so many connections with our volunteers this season. I had the opportunity to meet longtime and brand-new volunteers throughout the season, and it's so exciting to be as much a part of the community as the community is with Feed!"

We greatly appreciate all of the hard work, generosity, and sense of community we have as an organization. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you for being a part of our 2026 volunteer season, and to those joining us for winterizing, we can’t wait to finish out the year with you! 💚

Love,
Feed Iowa First 🌱

Sweet potato season is officially here 🍠

Our farm team kicked off the harvest this week, and there’s plenty more where that came from.

Stay tuned — this is just the beginning!

A little teamwork goes a long way at the farm! 🌱💚

This morning, members of the Corda Credit Union team joined us at Wanatee Farm to harvest peas and sweet potato vines.

Corda employees have volunteered with Feed Iowa First at several of our sites over the years, and we’re always grateful to see their team continue to show up for our work and our community.

We’re also lucky to have Ashley Black, a member of both the Corda team and Feed Iowa First’s Board of Directors, helping connect people to our mission in more ways than one.

Every volunteer hour helps us care for our growing spaces and move more fresh, locally grown produce into the hands of our neighbors. Thank you, Corda Credit Union, for spending your morning with us and continuing to support Feed Iowa First! 💚
