Linn County Veteran Services is expanding food assistance for local veterans and their families by providing supplemental aid of up to 50% of each veteran’s SNAP benefit amount. The assistance will be provided in the form of Fareway gift cards that veterans and their families can use to purchase food and household essentials, excluding alcohol, to***co, and lottery tickets.

The expanded assistance aims to help veterans meet immediate food and nutritional needs and encourages the use of community-based resources such as local food banks and pantries. Eligibility will be verified through official correspondence from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services dated on or after November 1.

Linn County Veteran Services will reevaluate this program every two weeks to ensure it meets community needs and aligns with available local and state resources. Contact Veteran Services at 319-892-5160 to learn more.
