Thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday for “Storytelling through your Budget: Making a Budget that Supports Your Application.” If you missed it, or any of our other sessions, recordings are available on our website.

📢We’re so excited to announce that The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) has increased the max grant amounts for NYC artists! 💙

This means that our Brooklyn Arts Fund will range from $5,000 to $7,500 this cycle, with up to $10,000 planned for next year. A higher max gives us more flexibility to meaningfully support Brooklyn artists, though it doesn’t automatically mean a larger funding pool or more awards.

Are you a Brooklyn artist, collective or non-profit organization with a budget of less than $100K?

As we celebrate , we’re honoring the memory of Ella Weiss, who led Brooklyn Arts Council from 1999 to 2015. 💛

Over 16 years, Ella expanded our programs, strengthened our foundation, and became a fierce advocate for Brooklyn’s cultural community. Above all, she believed in investing directly in artists.

That belief lives on through the Charlene Victor & Ella J. Weiss Cultural Entrepreneur Fund. With Open Call 2027, a new class of grantees will carry her legacy forward: artists and cultural entrepreneurs who share her vision and leadership.

Help Ella’s impact continue growing by donating directly to this Cultural Entrepreneur Fund that will help fund a BAC grantee with $3,500. Link in our bio 🔗

💙We’re thrilled to announce that in addition to our very own President & Executive Director, Rasu Jilani being named one of the many Preserving Culture Changemakers by Brooklyn Org - two BAC grantees, Caron Atlas (Naturally Occurring Cultural Districts) and Marj Kleinman (Stoop Stories), were ALSO recognized! 🎉

The Brooklyn Org 25 celebrates the borough’s emerging and long-time community changemakers recognized annually at the Brooklyn Org Changemakers Ball. In partnership with Photoville , this year’s honorees will be featured in a photo installation debuting at the Changemakers Ball before moving to a public plaza this November for all of Brooklyn to see.

Congrats to all recognized as champions for change ✨
